IB executions speeds - what's yours for LMT vs MKT?

good to hear it... so far I'm pretty much thrilled with the price and execution speed with IB; and their customer service has been solid too, of the 14 times or so I've called them this last couple of months, learning the ins and outs of the new TWS. Only one guy of 14 was a potatohead, the...

IB executions speeds - what's yours for LMT vs MKT?

No, as I said it's because there was a built in delay in the IB tws for pending orders; now everything is instantaneous once I changed that from the default 30 seconds down to 0 seconds. -k

IB executions speeds - what's yours for LMT vs MKT?

Ok this is great, just got off the phone with a knowledgeable IB tech, apparently the "Pending" tab and portfolio have built-in delays, which you can modify down to zero. I had been getting near-instant fills, as seen in the trade icon tab at the top of the interface; but it wasn't showing...

Will you buy timmay's hedge fund book?

Hi, Overall I thought the book was pretty good, because it talked about his real trades (which 99% of the other books on the market don't, most are by vendors only, vs people who really traded).... I understand people are a bit t'd off because his fund didn't do well, but overall it seems...

IB executions speeds - what's yours for LMT vs MKT?

Thanks - agree it must be something about this particular pc/isp combo using the java platform (and/or firewall settings), as I also tried using TWS from my laptop last week while in Vegas and got fills within 1-3 seconds. I appreciate the comments, guys - thx. gets back to...

IB executions speeds - what's yours for LMT vs MKT?

Hi - I just opened up another live account w/IB and am finding that order execution speeds via smart LMT orders are taking 15-20 seconds to confirm fills, on average (which is far too slow for daytrading), using TWS. Even 100-share MKT orders for liquid stocks have taken at least 10-15...

    Foreign women better than western?

you're right about that, jj - 100%. I just wish it didn't take me so dang long (I was in my 30s when I met her) to figure out what to go for. in my 20s, any good looking woman with long legs was all it took ... I overlooked the other flaws... now I know better... used to be the "3 B"...

    Foreign women better than western?

believe it or not, I actually paid for membership in a dating/match club in Hawaii, ran by an old mama-san, Teruko (Thanks!) who introduced me to several dozen Japanese women. She'd fax me their pictures, ask me which ones I wanted to go out with (about 3-4/week, for 6 months)... and she'd...

    Foreign women better than western?

I met my wife, who's from Japan, when I was living in Hawaii. She's Great! Been together nearly 10 years. Here's a pic: http://www.kencalhoun.com/wife.jpg And she's still thin like when I met her, has cooked and cleaned for me for 10 years, and has been faithful, honest, almost no...

Biggest differences trading stocks vs forex?

Hi - thanks for the insights... makes a lot of sense, with the currency markets being open 24 hours. With stocks, at least we know "when" to best focus our time, eg usually 9:30am-10:30am and occasionally the closing 3pm-4pm hour... Sounds like the currency market is challenging since both...

Biggest differences trading stocks vs forex?

Hi, What are the major differences you've all found in trading forex pairs vs day & swing trading stocks? In looking at the charts, it seems that forex charts are much narrower, more rangebound, requiring more use of b-bands,stochs,macd,rsi etc, compared to open range gaps/breakouts in...
