Hubris and bluster? The thread would read differently if Ebo didn't rewrite or delete every one of his posts after I'd responded to them.

What a freak show. SP500 1231 and change at close. There was a point to this exercise but I'm sure as hell not going to bother with a discussion of it.

day trade - short SP500 here at 1230

To be fair, it was actually 1230.92 when I made the call. We'll see what happens.

    Options Exit Question

Okay, I think I understand. I think most people who use covered calls wait until expiration and either let the calls expire or let the stock get called away. I assume you're trying to generate income from time decay. Since you're getting the most rapid time decay from the nearest months...

    Options Exit Question

It depends on how much fiber I've been eating. :) But seriously, I don't understand the question.

    Market is churning...

I'm thinking we might actually have a real pullback over the next week or so. BUT only if the CPI, oil inventories, etc. are not super bullish numbers. Nothing crazy, just back to the 20 day moving average on the major indices. We're a bit overbought here.

ANY NEWS related to market breakdown?

Marketwatch.com has a news scroll that includes that headline.

ANY NEWS related to market breakdown?

I think it's just more non-committment ahead of the CPI and all the other junk coming out this week.

    AAPL

Frickin' Steve Jobs....I don't ordinarily have much positive to say about CEO's but that guy is amazing. He's one of the best businessmen in America and he plays Wall Street like a violin.

    Market is churning...

Tuesday - PPI and Retail Sales Wednesday - CPI and EIA Petroleum Status Thursday - Housing Starts, Jobless numbers, Industrial Production and Philly Fed Survey. Friday - Options expiration  I hope that's enough to get us rockin' and rollin' this week. I'm sick of this trading...

    Market is churning...

Do you mean technically overbought? I agree on your points. Even though we've had an extended rally I'm nervous about shorting this market. "Don't fight the tape." Or, as one trader always used to yell at a coworker of mine, "You're not bigger than the market!!!!"

    Woohoo! Year-end rally! Awright!...um..

satchel, I salute you, sir. That was an excellent call. Looks like we won't quite touch 10700 but reaching within 15 points is pretty freakin' close.

Bulls Took Advantage of Moment of Silence :-)

Well...I'm not talking "should," I'm talking "will." :D If the S&P and most managers are negative 5% on 12/31 they will receive significantly less money when bonused than they would if they're up even 5%. And, depending on the particular firm and its circumstances, down 5% means some...

Bulls Took Advantage of Moment of Silence :-)

True enough, but not necessarily germane to the topic at hand. There are a lot of people on institutional trading desks talking to their compadres at mutual funds and various money managers and they're all getting a little sweaty hoping for a Merry Xmas. They're in a large industry (where...
