    ES trading volumes

You are absolutely right. Nobody in their right mind should trade those hours. I am not disputing your view, I totally agree with you. I was just trying to understand what goes on behind the scene, which you have now explained very clearly. Many thanks.

    ES trading volumes

EPrado Here's another thought: what about program trading? Surely the computers also don't go to sleep after 11am? What about all the arbitrage programs, pair trades programs etc etc? Thanks in advance.

    ES trading volumes

Your observation seems to be spot on, volume does pick up from about 3pm ET. Do you know the reason for this? Do the professionals simply close shop after 11am ET? I mean that's not even lunch hour... What do they do until 3pm ET?

    ES trading volumes

I was talking in terms of the equity market, excluding everything else (bonds etc). So if it's not ES, what is it? NQ and YM are equally dead.

    ES trading volumes

The volume on ES seems to reduce drastically after the first hour. After 1040 ET the market is pretty much dead. What's going on? And I thought ES is the world's most liquid market... What are the big boys trading if it's not the ES?

Newb trying to understand ZB and ZN

Thanks a lot. Why can't they write in simple English on the website? Seem to be almost in a mission to make it obscure.

Newb trying to understand ZB and ZN

Hi, I have read the contract specifications on the CBOT site many time, I still can't understand how tick values and points work on ZB and ZN, primarily because I am not used to fractional price quotes. For ZB, this is what it says on CBOT: "CBOT: Tick Size: Minimum price fluctuations shall...

    zero sum game?????????????

This is a newbie question but I have to ask. I read everywhere that for every future contract I buy, someone has to take the opposite side. In today's fast and fully electronic market, who is that 'someone'? When I click a button on my PC to buy a contract, who goes out and finds...

    Learning NASDAQ level 2

To be taken seriously, those so-called professional traders who sell seminars should post screenshots of their executions and P/L twice a day (one at the lunch hour and another at the end of the day) off the broker screen. Let them do this for a week and then I'll believe them. Anybody can...

    Learning NASDAQ level 2

I have checked out Alan Rich and I am not convinced he makes the bulk of his income trading.

    Learning NASDAQ level 2

Not many replies, sadly. I thought this was an important topic. Come on gurus, tell a learner how to go about it...

    Learning NASDAQ level 2

I have ordered the underground trader DVD. I know it's outdated now, but I might be pick up a few nuggets of useful information here and there. But surely there are pro traders out there who offer up-to-date cutting edge training on level 2 (either in seminars or through video)?

    Learning NASDAQ level 2

Can anybody suggest any good, up-to-date training material on level 2? In particular, any recommendation on professional day traders who uses NASDAQ L2 who also coach and mentor? I have rudimentary knowledge of L2 and would like to learn from a pro. I understand the basics but there are many...
