    Adapting to the Hybrid

Are the games that are played on level2 and the open book typical of periods of low volatility or is this how the market has become over the last few years. I am wondering what to expect if volatility picks up whether we will see these same games or we will be able to more easily define our...

    Adapting to the Hybrid

This is the print I mentioned. The 2nd volume bar was also on the THRD.

    Adapting to the Hybrid

This is not the one I had in mind but it shows the volume spike at 7:30PST and a print going off on THRD for 150k at 77.55. If I can find the particular one I had in mind I'll post it. I have been seeing lots of block prints going off like this on THRD. If it was something that wasn't traded...

    Wallstreet Is Total Manipulation!!!

Repos are repurchase agreements by the Fed, it is a loan to banks below the Fed Funds rate. A way to add money to the economy creating demand for securities if that is where they choose to use the mney. The increase in July was about 20%, which correlates to the rebound in the market. A...

    Wallstreet Is Total Manipulation!!!

From a macro scale it all comes down to the Fed and how it adds liquidity to the markets. Ever wonder why they no longer publish M3? HA HA! Because they dont want you to know they are taxing us via inflation. Anyhow, the data shows a direct correlation between the growth in repo's and the...

    Adapting to the Hybrid

I've noticed a lot more block trades (clean up prints at tops or bottoms) going off on "THRD" on esignal, instead of the NYS which I am used to seeing. Is THRD another part of NYS order routing or is it an ECN? If so it looks like there is more liquidity elsewhere.

    Adapting to the Hybrid

After getting my @$$ handed to me this morning trying to scalp CAL and HOG I started doing much better trading a little longer time frame with S/R, such as the Res at 00 on CAL and then the break out from there. I've only been trading a couple of months so I am still experimenting. Because of...

    Adapting to the Hybrid

My quotes were slow on CAL but I thought it was our system. Was trying to NX at .21 and the box was showing .10.

    Adapting to the Hybrid

Unfortunately the price wasn't moving up at this point in time. I think it was mid day, so the buyer would flash, traders would run it up a few points, he would pull, then the pikers would sell thus pushing the stock back down often below the original point and be selling out to him at a...

    Adapting to the Hybrid

I believe it was CAL that I was trading this morning when I kept seeing a bid flashing like the old system so I asked the head trader in y office (some here know him, T Harrison) and he reminded me that brokers now have direct access to the quotes. So it is not only the specialist that is trying...

    Adapting to the Hybrid

Can't you call the exchange and have them break the trade? One of the guys in my office has done it a couple of times on clearly stupid trades like that.

    Adapting to the Hybrid

Does the specialist have any control over the inside market when the stock is not at the LRP? Here is something from the NYSE website stating they can trade through the open book but doesn't say anything about the NBBO mpact to Specialists In order to react to customers, specialists will...

    ARCA being manipulated by NYSE?

From what I hear this has to do with low volatility market we are in. The specialist has more time to play games and manipulate the market. At my firm we're hoping for the market to tank so the volatility goes up and the specialist has to do his job and fill orders instead of scratching his...

    Adapting to the Hybrid

no takers? From reading many threads on ET I have been finding that many are trading it technically. What I am wondering is whether some still put on a trade (define their risk) by size or whether they only use technical stops. What I am seeing is people market in, swipe the book up 20...

    Scalping

Rumpled- Excellent simple strategy, beats watching fake bids/offers in the morning. At my firm I can only trade NYS, do you know of any listed stocks that trade like those? Jonathan

    Adapting to the Hybrid

I have been trading listed stocks at a prop firm for a few months and am finally starting to get a handle on executions and the games the specialists play with stocks. But with the hybrid, what I learned seems to be irrelevant and I have to come up with a new way to play the game. Do any of...

Help newb: cap rate for multi-unit property in LA?

I haven't dont a condo conversion myself but I would image it would be a lot of work. I would play with the numbers and figure out the ROI you expect to get on this investment and then decide if it is worth all the effort. If you have any real estate related questions check out the...

Help newb: cap rate for multi-unit property in LA?

With increased supply it will take longer for them condos to sell and thus larger holding costs. At the same time the prices are more likely to fall and not putting you in a good position to sell condos. I live in SD and they now significantly restricted condo conversions because of all the...
