That explains it. Sure am glad you are not kiwi_trader. :) Sorry, I got you mixed up with some foul-mouthed kid.

    IB Suggestions & Improvements

Something strange going on here. My email alerted me to a follow-up post in this thread from Steve at IB, yet the only follow-up post I see here is from kiwi_trader. No email alert from a reply by kiwi_trader, either. Makes me think kiwi and Steve are the same person.

    Is this slippage or what!

Thank You for the info. Now, if I remember correctly how stops are triggered can be changed in TWS, so would changing our stops from double bid/offer to last give a better stop result?

    Is this slippage or what!

STEVE at IB: In case you missed the above previous post in this thread, would you mind answering the above? Otherwise, I believe #2 is correct. Also, can you tell me why Oanda can fill a stop closer to the price than IB? Others here have given their opinion, but I'd like to hear yours. Thnx.

    IB Suggestions & Improvements

Though I am mostly a futures trader who trades stocks now and then, occasionally I like to trade forex. For efficient forex trading at IB, we really need the following to show on TWS on the market data line just like they show in futures and stocks: 1) Profit/Loss 2) Change 3) Volume...

    Is this slippage or what!

I don't know if I would blame IB. In all fairness to them, they make forex trading available to us if we wish to indulge; they do not force us to trade fx. I'm sure other markets are not 100% honest either. The fact that forex is unregulated lends itself to forex being more crooked than other...

Just checked. Yes, it was during UK CPI data time.

    Is this slippage or what!

This sounds right to me. I cannot wait until we either get guaranteed stops or regulation in forex, but I do not expect it to be any time soon. :(

    Is this slippage or what!

I usually check the calendar, and did not realize that there was a news event at that time, or I would not have made that trade. I do not trade the news. Anyhow, it is done, and I am just trying to figure out the reasons. Thanks for the feedback. If it was during the news, then that explains alot.

    Is this slippage or what!

Bit, this thread is not about which is better to trade. I am trying to figure out why Stops execute so far away. I hope IB jumps back in and answers my previous post about what they meant when they stated that it is not their fault or the bank's, but "it's just a function of the market".

    Is this slippage or what!

The forex trade was on Tuesday, GBP.USD 2006-08-15, 04:30:08 USD DBKFX. I'm well aware of the effects news can have, but I don't believe there was any news, and do not recall there being a 60 pip drop at that time. Speaking of Oanda, I also have an Oanda acct, and their stops are never...

    Is this slippage or what!

Allow me to back up a bit. Please elaborate and tell me exactly what you mean by stating "It was just a function of the market at the time?" Are you saying that: 1) There were no tradeable prices during that time 2) My stop was executed too slowly and that's why I got stopped out at a worse...

    Is this slippage or what!

GBP/USD In IB's discussion board, I read where a guy's stop on IDEALPRO was executed 54 pips from his stop. I guess 21 pips slippage wasn't so bad after all.

    Gbp/ Usd

Yep. Sorry about that. I am now short GBP/USD.

Thanks Steve for clarifying that for me and thanks for taking the time to check it out. I appreciate it.

    Is this slippage or what!

What do you mean that IdealPro is an ECN platform? Are you saying the slippage is the bank's fault that it is cleared through, such as Citibank or Deutsch? A Stop Limit has to go thru the price twice so there's a greater chance that it won't be executed at all. I prefer execution, even if a...

    Gbp/ Usd

I have a GBPUSD long. I think long is the direction for the short term. GBP is regaining some of its losses, and USD is going back down.

    Is this slippage or what!

I had a forex IDEALPRO trade at IB that got stopped out 21 pips away from my stop. It wasn't major news time, but the pair did move down quickly a few pips. When I inquired why my stop was executed so far away, IB told me that stops are simulated on forex. They also stated that they sent the...

What does this mean: Cannot transmit page until all security definitions are returned? I get this when submitting OCA orders.
