How much trading profit is enough to live on?

How much is enough to live on? How long is a piece of string? I'd say you'd have to look at how many hits you could take before blowing up.

More evidence that the gig economy is actually making people poorer

It's not that people didn't recover and adapt, but I don't think it is a cut-and-dry answer compared to the past. With the 1-2 punch of globalization and automation coming... Is the Scale of the problem the same as previous problems? Is the Speed of the problem the same as previous problems? Is...

Do Tax Cuts Create Jobs? If So, How?

;) Like anything with scale, it'd lead to catastrophe without some way to manage eventual monopolies. Hyper-capitalists like to think there will always be a smaller competitor to diffuse a road/fire/police/military monopoly, but I think market in-elasticities and sheer human irrationality...

More evidence that the gig economy is actually making people poorer

@Overnight I wouldn't call that the income inequality problem. I'd consider that a lack of wage competition ensuring fair valuation. I'd even stretch to say that fixing income inequality would fix that, since more workers would rise up out of low-skilled work to compete against the layabout...

Do Tax Cuts Create Jobs? If So, How?

I am not a libertarian or Anarcho capitalist, but there are schemes where they privatize all of the above, and non-subscribers either opt out or pay an a la carte premium. Untenable, IMO. All socioeconomic systems work until you measure effects of market elasticity on the consolidation of power.

Do Tax Cuts Create Jobs? If So, How?

But some tax cuts are much better than others.

Do Tax Cuts Create Jobs? If So, How?

Tax cuts anywhere stimulate some growth, but I believe there is a very strong diminishing ratio of returns when it comes to where. High earner tax adjustments are negligible. Middle/lower class are great.

    ES Journal - 2017/2018

I have constant volume charts open side-by-side, I like how it evens out moments of high and low activity so you can see clearer patterns by volume; what may look like a quick volume burst on the charts may be sectioned into an orderly move on the volume chart. I've considered only seeing...

    Black Every Day?

No, because borrowing fees are higher for them since everybody knows that's what people would do.

Is there a limit on how far ahead to buy a put to profit off of vol/vega?

Is there a name for this graph? That is what I assumed, that perhaps within 1 year out I may imagine a correction, but 2 years out it should have recovered, etc.

Is there a limit on how far ahead to buy a put to profit off of vol/vega?

Since the effects of Vega increase as one goes farther and farther in time, does that mean if one wanted to profit off of a correction following low volatility should buy a LEAP as far as possible ahead? Or is there a diminishing rate of return for time ahead? Or, would one have to recalculate...

SPY Single Leg (Somewhat OTM, and ATM) Option Volume While Trend Chasing

SPY options have high liquidity, thousands on the DOM. I see no reason why your market orders couldn't fill instantly with depth to spare. Traders must often choose between waiting for a better fill or jumping for the quicker fill. The former usually works just fine, but then again, I'm not...

Will US markets be more expensive than what they have been historically, forever?

What shortsale restrictions would prevent corrections?

Will US markets be more expensive than what they have been historically, forever?

High liquidity and information would strike me as encouraging a correction more than overvaluation. Also, given that Trump gives no fucks about bankruptcy in his private enterprise, who knows if the Dollar is safe from default?

    Naked Puts and Margin

If your cash balance is positive, you're not borrowing money, so no. While 4900 is the amount needed to purchase the stock, you haven't purchased it yet, so you couldn't be charged interest on money you haven't used yet, and the whole point of options is cheaper exposure. But, if assigned, you...

    How to play volatility

The underlying will decay, yes, but how sure can you be that it will happen at the speed you need?

    How to play volatility

The price of the puts increases because everybody else is expecting the same thing, that volatility will decline and VXX will decay. Nothing is certain; prices are generally bid until a point where the market expects an approximate 50/50 chance either way. Your advantage comes from seeing when...
