    Scaling your way in.

Say you have established a trend. You want to capitalise on it, but are not very sure whether your assessment is correct. You place your first bet, and the market confirms your initial intuition. What criteria do you use to add more stake to your initial position? The problem of buying...

    Leveraged Short ETFs... something wrong?

do these nuances regarding tracking errors, etc. occur with UNLEVERAGED short etfs?? Say for example, instead of buying SDS, I would buy SH. Could the second etf be a buy and hold (ie. an exact opposite mirror image of the SP500)?? Thanks in advance.

    Trading and Frugality.

I think you have missed the whole point of this thread. It is all about choosing to live below your means - hence frugality. If these traders can live within those 50k, then yes, they are truly free. Remember, it is not he who owns the most who is richest, but he who needs the least.

    Trading and Frugality.

I guess many people take the all or nothing approach. Either its totally back or its totally white. Not everyone who trades the markets is a millionaire, the same way that not everyone in the markets loses their shirt. Why can't some people understand that you can make a normal income (ie...

    Trading and Frugality.

Who here trades for the freedom, and not for the riches that may derive from this profession? Who here would resort to frugality, if it meant continuing to trade and be free - instead of opting for a corporate career with a higher income and social status? In the hypothetical scenario of...

    Leveraged Short ETFs... something wrong?

I guess that these two bear funds issued by SG also work in the same weird fashion? I was thinking of buying and holding them them as a medium term play.

blew my account can I ever recover?

Part of personal development lies in realizing (and admitting) one's strengths and weaknesses. It takes extreme maturity and will power to move on - but many years down the line - you might be glad that you did.

    Good sources on Money Management?

What is so lazy about asking for GOOD sources? Am I also being lazy if - for example - I ask which trading seminar is worth attending? Do I have to attend all of them to then decide? I guess you have never taken a recommendation from another person then?

    Good sources on Money Management?

Okay, so I have a simple system based on position trading. Actually - to be precise - its a very simple system. Now, to maximise the profitability, I need to ensure optimal money management. I (personally) believe that this is the key to turn any system into a consistently profitable one...

    covered options

I actually live in the EU so I am not well versed on US fiscal policy. I was basically refering to lowering the purchase price. It has nothing got to do with taxes. ie. buy stock at $20. Write call for $1 premium. The stock has essentially cost me $19.

    covered options

you are right, my mistake. I still don't get how writing the call option provides protection or insurance.

    covered options

Kindly explain what you mean by the extra protection provided by writing the ITM call. From what I see, the only "protection" you get is a lower cost basis on the underlying due to the collection of whatever extrinsic value (premium) that call option has. Your upside is limited to the...

IN THIS THREAD: IronFist learns (the elusive) PRICE ACTION

I might be interpreting your post and chart incorrrectly but from what I can gather, your profit target is less than your stop loss? Is this because you scale out of your trades (and let some of the position continue running past your initial profit target?) If not, how do you overcome the...
