    Transition from Engineering to trading

I don't think an MBA is a requirement -- it seems to me that the vast majority of top traders don't have one. That said, an MBA seems a perfectly reasonable way to get there, if MBA programs suit your fancy and you can get into a program from which your target employers are willing to hire.

help getting started with automated trading

interactivebrokers.com offers a nice Java interface that a lot of people use. (A large user base is good in trading API's, as I've found that I end up "beta testing" many of the less-used ones.) Just keep in mind that 4/5 of IB's revenue is from trading rather than brokerage, so there may be...

    Penson: Radianz is down

They broadcast a message as such. The main reason I post this here is that I'm interested in knowing whether others are experiencing the same problem with other brokerages, or whether it's just an issue with Penson or even Radianz in Dallas, generally. Radianz is used by probably every major...

    Auto Trading Bites The Dust?

I have heard the opposite regarding black boxes for equities -- they are flourishing in this environment, at least the ones I've heard about. Is it really that different on the Eurex / Liffe? In the long run, I can't imagine that banning black boxes will be beneficial to anyone or anything...

    Latency of these data feeds

Spec, Are you happy with Activ? My list of possible feed providers includes Activ, Essex Radez, Reuters, Comstock, and Infodyne. Activ may be at the top of my list as they seem to be pushing the envelope, e.g. by designing specialized silicon for their options feeds (not something I...

    Penny Pilot Issues exchange fees

Nonprophet, Your example, although possible, does not seem very likely to me. Has it actually happened? As an aside, I don't think that IB is a very good place for the type of order you propose. IB/Timber Hill derives 4/5 of their income from market making and only 1/5 from brokerage...
