Do most of your profits come from a small % of trades?

Yes and I expect it to be that way.

Why is hard to make money? Find trend, stops above previous/high low, TP @ next highs/lows

I think some of the disagreement here could be your different time frames but anyway I'm interested in how you set your bias Scataphagos ? I use longer term price chart channels and economic data like SP earnings, employment and GDP. Anything else?

Why is hard to make money? Find trend, stops above previous/high low, TP @ next highs/lows

Good summary. I think its OK to set a sell criteria such as momentum fading, price falls out of channel etc but just assigning a sell price alone is rather crazy since you don't know if or when it will be hit. It would also be ignoring all the extra market and economic data from point of trade...

Warren Buffett Says America Is "So Rich" It Can Afford Single Payer

With regards to healthcare this is total bullshit - look at the data from socialist countries some have over half a century of national healthcare systems. Lower healthcare costs and healthier populations compared to US. Just stop electing stupid governments who are manipulated by US...

Warren Buffett Says America Is "So Rich" It Can Afford Single Payer

Yeah the US government and political system does seem designed to feed itself and serve whoever pays it the most rather than the people. Had a discussion once with a US republican about 'free speech' I tried to describe it as what comes from my mouth, writings etc.... he tried to extend it to...

Warren Buffett Says America Is "So Rich" It Can Afford Single Payer

The US doesn't have a monopoly on personal responsibility..... and with regards healthcare just look at how less fat, sorry obese, other countries are.

Warren Buffett Says America Is "So Rich" It Can Afford Single Payer

Lol - you said that without even knowing how I live. And who do you mean by 'we' just yourself or all Americans?

Warren Buffett Says America Is "So Rich" It Can Afford Single Payer

Amazing to watch from afar how the US manage to tie itself in knots over healthcare. Currently you have some of the highest healthcare costs and yet lowest life expectancy of developed nations. A unique hatred of governments seems to prevent what other developed nations have and yet ironically...

    Jesse Livermore’s 25 Trading Lessons

Especially for his time I thought his rules were pretty good..... just he couldnt follow them himself. I would add two more: - Once you are rich enough find other hobbies to keep you busy and less tempted to take risk. - Stay away from any women whose previous husbands have comitted suicide...

    The S&P 500 has topped at 2430 on 6/1/17

Yes you can spin it either way. I'm sure market would have risen if Clinton instead of trump won. Wasn't actually that big move in EU markets today and maybe overall movement was just like any other day.... just happened to be election results and what sharp movements occurred were at time of...

    The S&P 500 has topped at 2430 on 6/1/17

The latest one I saw was regarding the UK elections: markets are poised for the "reliefrally". Relief from what? Relief from hard EU exit without trade deal. Coalition government has to form and needs other party support...... weak, soft exit or no exit at all now has higher probability...

    The Truth About Trading!

I'm sure price would be discovered well enough without everyone on ET since so few trade enough size to move it..... but so what? Many professions can be viewed as adding little value depending on your perspective e.g. priests, archaeologist etc Just by shifting cash around i.e. buying stuff...

    The S&P 500 has topped at 2430 on 6/1/17

Finding reasons to worry and not buy is normally the easy part. BTW I'm also in EU, Sweden and like Germany doing fine. Been long EU and EM rather than US most of bull market as always looked cheaper. I don't have bet on it but to me USD looks strong against euro now...

    The S&P 500 has topped at 2430 on 6/1/17

How's this for a reason why the bull can last longer. Europe is actually getting its act together and growing earnings and GDP. Euro earnings are still ca 30% below 2008 peak whilst US already exceeded it. Largest US companies will get some of that growth, weakening dollar will also improve USD...

Is The End of The Bull Market Near?

Every day it gets nearer but that doesn't tell you anything. Europe and emerging markets already had bear market in 2016 and are now expanding. Depending on what index you look at US avoided one and 2017 earnings now look good in next few quarters. Not really obvious to me why this bull should...

What had trading done for and to you?

Pros - Enabled me to take jobs for interest rather than money e.g. recently moved back into science/engineering role with same company. No chance of being made VP but with trading income I earn more than him and have to deal with less corporate shit at work :) Need 6% return to match my after...

Myth, no time - go for long term trading?

Interesting that's also similar to my main strategy these days for longer term trading. Maybe only fire from the bushes 3 times a year when the herd is panicking.

Why don't I just load everything up SPXL?

Based on the historical data, and all the problems that come with it (excluding russia, China which went to zero etc) then yes western stockmarkets have risen over time so provided you can survive the volatility and hold your positions then leveraged long on the SP500 or something similar is a...
