As a beginner, I would choose a fewer setup in improving my methods so I could focus more in one direction. I could probably add more, in time.

I'm actually doing the same thing, putting in small amount of money in short term markets. It keeps me motivated even though I've had more losses than gains. It's a learning experience for me, though.

I don't use color-coded keyboard or some special mouse. It doesn't matter to me anyway. I just focus myself more in trading.

Based on experience, I prefer cable over DSL. Although DSL is alot faster, cable is much more reliable though for me.
