Is IB making our orders & quotes compete with back-fill/charting bandwidth?

Two unrelated things: - We had a faulty controller in our HighAvailability data server, which houses the transaction related persistent stores. That got corrected, shortening the order-acknowledgement times. - We turned off the charts because we had a network event w/ our service provider...

The market data is restored. We had to disable the charting data for the rest of the day. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Option Opening Rotation

The order will be sent to one of the exchanges before the open. If the issue is singly listed, we will route the order to the only possible destination. Otherwise, we chose the destination utilizing an algorithm that considers various factors.

Sorry for the problems. We had a misconfigured firewall. The TWS is designed to recover from such a failure by attempting to get the data from a different source, but this failed. We'll have it fixed. These hiccups happen in conjunction with moving the HK customers onto farms, the benefits of...

    IB and new CME Cancel/Modify

We are on the same page. We will continue to try and influence the CME fee policy. Our implementation will reflect the exchanges final decision, and will be skewed towards charging users who over-use the routing capacity. For now I am off this subject.

    IB and new CME Cancel/Modify

I agree that the $1 charge combined with the 5:1 execution credit is excessive. (As I indicated earlier, the limits will be different from those originally announced). At the same time though the execution credit should not have to be 208:1, to satisfy the bandwidth-guzzling customer I...

    IB and new CME Cancel/Modify

Yes, indeed and then they would quickly institute the cancellation fees just like they did in Europe. I agree that the automated trading is going to get bigger. However, the customers who utilize the routing system disproportionately to the income they generate to their broker and exchange...

    IB and new CME Cancel/Modify

It is delayed until October 1st; the message limits will likely be different from those that were originally announced. incidentally I have been looking at a user who today executed 78 1 lots on Globex and submitted 16,254 revisions. I would argue that majority of IB customers would benefit...

This is the same old incorrect song. What you call bells and whistles have no effect on the market data distribution and the speed of order routing, which is a lot more dependent on the back-end software than the TWS.

Thank you for the post. The market-data and order routing speed is extremely important to us. It is so because our ideal customer is an active trader, but also because TimberHill, our proprietary trading affiliate, uses the same technology as what we give to our customers. --- As far as...

I like your post; thank you. We would very much like the TWS to be the fastest and meanest trading application beast out there. While I disagree with the assertion that the tick-by-tick market data is faster than what we provide, I would love to hear about specific...

Unfortunately I don't know what TI is. Please have a look at our manual; I think you will easily see whether or not everything you need is already supported. If you find something you believe should be added, please let us know and we will consider it.

    Option Opening Rotation

IB can route your orders using its Smart technology, or let you route them to the exchange of your choice. I would suggest you use the Smart routing both because you will receive better fills (pre-open or during RTH) and also because the commissions are much lower. IB does provide both the...

    Anyone use Xetra/IBIS TICK index?

The principle is the same as that of NYSE TICK.

    Option Opening Rotation

I think if you used IB Smart you would be happy. Before the open IB sends your order to an exchange. If another exchange opens sooner, we will not let your order sit at the original destination for longer than 10 seconds. We will re-route it to the already opened exchange instead.
