I just got this email from IB

The actual NYSE rules which were written about a year ago state that a customer's buying power is defined as follows: "Day trading buying power is calculated based on the customers account position as of the close of business on the previous day. Day trading buying power is limited to four...

I just got this email from IB

I know it sounds like T+1 but that doesn't make much sense. For example - what if you had $50,000 cash as of last night and you LOST $20,000 trading today - there is no way you should still be able to trade with the previous nights Equity with Loan Value ($50,000)

For those of you who trade thru IB ... who is your backup broker?

Not a bid deal for me. SMART order routing is quite good with some limitations. The key is understanding when there may be a problem and take appropriate action.

    Closing my IB account

What other "retail" brokers can match IB's commission rates for equities/options? Do you realize that IB is constantly in the top 10 in terms of "agency/program trading"? (Last I checked, IB was doing about 65 Million shares/week in terms of program trading) There must be many IB...

IB increase option commisions for self routed orders

I realize there are problems with IB's option order routing. Each one of you should make a point to send them examples of SMART doing the "wrong" thing. Routing of orders to the PHLX should be avoided as discussed in this thread. The more traders that IB hears from, the better chance they...

IB increase option commisions for self routed orders

I don't pay that much attentiion to who is the specialist on the PHLX. From what I have learned from one of Timber Hill's employees, it's not so much the market makers that are the issue but the PHLX CEO, Sandy Frucher. Frucher is the one responsible for instituting this 2 minute rule (a rule...

IB increase option commisions for self routed orders

a few points 1) What I meant was that since the BOX will not charge anything for "Orders executed for customers of a BOX Participant (OFPs)" then IB will route to the BOX first instead of the ISE. Having this choice will save IB lots of $$ and I have no problem with that. 2) At times...

    BOX - Boston Options Exchange

The Price Improvement part of the rules are vital. Currently it is not 100% clear if everyone will see the customer side of the order during price improvement periods. Without this ability, the BOX would rank right near the bottom for exchanges in terms of equal access. Imagine for a minute...
