    question

You are correct. I don't know much about PRO firms. I wasn't sure if these firms wanted to "share" in your P/L. thanks for the response.

    question

Is it possible to structure a deal with a PRO firm where you would put up 100% of the capital while sharing in 100% of the profits/losses? (The reason one might look at this option instead of a retail firm is the increased leverage available at many PRO firms) thanks.

Concern about human intervention has led some institutions to try entirely new methods. This month, when Daniel McManus, director of equity trading at Turner Investment Partners in Berwyn, Pa., wanted to buy 1.35 million shares of Home Depot Corp., he turned to a two-year-old start-up, called...

TROUBLE ON THE FLOOR For months, Jeff Tabak stewed when he felt he wasn't getting good trade-completions, or "executions," while trading on the New York Stock Exchange. But one trade in December for a client who is a large money manager pushed him too far. Mr. Tabak, a partner in...

Anyone have specifics on how Bush's tax plan will affect day traders?

Trajan, You are correct. In fact, I have been saying this for months. Spreads will get wider in many deravative products. Options, SSF's and Index Futures where divs are an issue will all be affected if the tax laws stand as is. After speaking to several Exchanges, it is clear that they...

    Taxes on Dividends

I'm not a US resident (for tax purposes) and am intrigued as to how these new US tax laws might affect trading. Currently, any dividends I receive from US Corps are treated as business income and any divs I paid out are treated as an Expense. (in affect netting themselves out) If I paid out...

    IB's Screwed Up Quotes

Island quotes are screwed up now - very difficult to trade. An easy solution for IB would to identify immediately a quote issue and simply stop sending these incorrect quotes via SMART. There must be a way to identify "a quote issue" as soon as it happens.

new option cancel fees for IB

new option cancel fees for IB

Lobster and Madgenius, Existing rules prevent outside participants from making markets. (see below) A few important points to note is that a) it is ALREADY ILLEGAL on all five option Exchanges to constantly post bids/asks. The rule is very vague. ie it is illegal to act as a market...

2 Bob: Funny, I was bidding for ABX this morning (14.40). But you must have been trying to go short as you can't short any NYSE stocks (down on the day) on Island or Instinet (ARCA has the more traditional down tick rule). ABX closed at 14.61

Lol You Have Got To Be....

How many brokers provide market depth via their API? (I don't know of many retail data providers that allow you to get market depth quotes in their API) According to you: commissions/data are better elsewhere and the TWS sucks - perhaps you should go elsewhere good luck.
