Consequences of reaching barriers in technological advancement

Take the US today. In what field/market, is it superior to other countries out there? I can't think of any. Maybe #1 in welfare check disbursements? Oh, I forgot...aerospace & defense, thanks to big government meddling in Iraq/Afghanistan.

    Regulating the markets

Or implement a 1/4 cent per share tax. That would close them down for good!

Jim cramer "that cant be there, that is not a real price"!!!!!

That's still fucked though. The system was broken today. The greedy exchanges ought to separate the leeches from the real liquidity providers!

Jim cramer "that cant be there, that is not a real price"!!!!!

How are you supposed to even trade when the bid/ask on a stock shows .08 ask / 39.56 bid You know the system is screwed, so what's the point of buying shares at 8 cents only to have them cancelled later? DO you trade?

A number of High Frequeny Firms Stopped Trading...

No, I just DON'T want to trade against scumbags/HFT leeches that create a false market 98% of the time, tell the public they're providing liquidity but as soon as some hiccup happens they run away/shut down & cry to the exchanges to CANCEL the orders! That's a bs system. Earlier this...

NYSE says Electronic Trading Black Box for plunge

Yes, but at least it's real volume. Like it used to be in US years ago. None of this penny phuking bs that goes on nowadays.

A number of High Frequeny Firms Stopped Trading...

So, what happenned to the HFT leeches providing "liquidity"??? It's more like they suck the blood out of the system on a daily basis & when things look bad they run like hell/shut down and tell the public they serve a "useful" purpose as liquidity providers. Scammers.

NYSE says Electronic Trading Black Box for plunge

I trade all the major European exchanges and none of this US bullshit happens there! Not in Paris. Not in London. Not on Xetra. Not in Madrid. Not in Milan. Not on Chi-X. Not on OMX. Not in Oslo. Yes, they're all electronic. They just don't have these leeches like in the US fucking...

NYSE says Electronic Trading Black Box for plunge

Another reason to get rid of this black box, algorithmic, bullshit type of 'trading'. It turns the 'market' into a casino. This kind of garbage didn't happen in other countries/exchanges that don't suck up to these bogus leeches/ aka "liquidity providers".

List of stocks that went to 0.01 today

PID, PEY, VYM...these are ETF's that traded for pennies today! Other ETF's that traded 20-70% off were DVY, VIG, DEM. I suspect there were many others. This should not happen with ETF's which are touted for 'liquidity'! This is bullshit. This "market is made up with false prices and...

It looks like ETF's are exempt from stamp duty and regular investment trusts/CEF transactions need to pay.. http://www.fool.co.uk/isas/information/investment-trusts.aspx http://www.fool.co.uk/Your-Money/guides/Investment-Trusts.aspx Again, just try 100 share limit order on IB & you'll...

If a stock the trades on the london stock exchange but

I would use a limit order to buy TPOU since it's USD and I believe IB will then charge you the same commish as if it were a US product order. This is a very very thin stock. I stay away from these things but again, with a limit order it's probably ok. That way you find out the nuances with...

If a stock the trades on the london stock exchange but

Which stock? Give me the name of 1 stock & I can tell you. If you buy it on NYSE, you don't have these other issues.

If a stock the trades on the london stock exchange but

You'll probably want to stay away from the GBP stock since it's probably taxable (UK stamp duty) through IB. Whether to trade the EUR or USD stock would probably depend on which hours you want to trade. Are you based in Europe or US-based? Do you have charts for either one? Do you care? If...

How do HF's deal with liquidity issues?

Many of the big HF's are not much more than mutual funds in disguise/asset gatherers. It can sometimes take days, even a month to get into/out of certain assets. Some are so illiquid, there's no market for these assets if everybody heads for the door.
