    The Consistency Thread

    I am a sadist. I love pain. :( :)

    The Consistency Thread

I have not traded long enough to be sure but it seems like the harm is coming solely from my mismanagement (of the trade and one's expectation).

    The Consistency Thread

I know people will explain away with market cycle in relationship to the setup, mental capitalization, etc. etc. But that is not very useful to view it like that imho. What really drives the cycle?

But if you take the first, second and third setups as well so what if you got spank the fourth time (although I don't trade like a robot either... I like the first setup). 3-times the charm... everybody probably already piled in.

    The Consistency Thread

I was watching World Poker Tour a week or two ago and this guy Tuan Le was keep taking money from everybody until he got a little wishy-washy with his bets probably because he was so much ahead. After a tiny drawdown, he tightened up and played great again. I think the so called boom-bust...

Superior trader, a born talent or can be taught?

Definitely there are natural born talents... someone who happened to have his skillsets developed all his life lined up for a task. I remember one of my college buddies who used to come up with such clean and elegant software code in solving a problem. I considered him a natural talent in...

    Goal Checklist for Struggling Trader

No mental baggage from the past... stick with the basics... one day at a time.

    Goal Checklist for Struggling Trader

Hi Swing, Your checklist is result-oriented. I think a better checklist would be "cause"-oriented such as only taking good setup for the next N days regardless of the result, honor the uncle point for the next N days regardless of the result. If your setup really works then there should not...

Superior trader, a born talent or can be taught?

Hi Steve, Can you expand on the "build-up" process? What is being built? Are you talking about confidence, position size, etc? I mean what are the goals, direction and destination? And how do you know if you are off the course besides the P/L? Thank you for your help. Regards, William

Zen in Trading - I believe!

The instant you become aware that you are lost, you are not lost... no pun!!!

Zen in Trading - I believe!

In Buddhist tantra, there is a "reverse" connection between mind and body. I think I have better chance to use rhythmic breathing to break out of a brain-lock than some fantasized state. But I found if I am a little more patient with my entry initially, I don't need to get into that.

Zen in Trading - I believe!

Hi Lotus 7, You are right but it might not be good to talk about Tummo on a public forum. The dakinis and dharmapala are watching. :D To me, yogic renunciation (yogi practiced for years in solitude and came back to town to test and fuel the fire of their realization... more poisons the...

Zen in Trading - I believe!

That is why I wrote "Buddhist meditation" and not Zen. :) Not to diverge, I have thought about combining meditation with trading. I started a thread long ago when I know very little about trading (and I still know very little). But it is not meditation that got me to a better...

Zen in Trading - I believe!

Oh forgot... Most important of all... Honestly look at your result. Paul Tudor Jones said if you don't have an edge, you will lose ALL your money! Same goes to if you have an edge but you don't follow your trading plan.

Zen in Trading - I believe!

As to trading... just work very hard at it... study the market (write down the numbers by hand)... find an edge (not from every book that everybody uses)... create a low pressure environment (make sure properly bankrolled or get a job)... follow the plan consistently one day at a time (following...

Zen in Trading - I believe!

Buddhist meditation is NOT about directing one's focus into one point and blocking out thoughts and perceptions. That sounds more like The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Buddhist meditation is more about directly experience the mind and its projection (thoughts) as it is... honestly... naturally...

    Very hard time taking loss:(

Kson, I don't know what I am talking about but just want to ask if a lot of the "plus" days were also resulted from holding onto losers. If that is the case, we might have a bigger issue than accepting losses here.

What am I supposed to do now?

For those who are trying to figure out (short-term trading), someone (older and wiser) has recommended www.wattstrading.com to me ($25? for his manual). I don't trade his method but I know he is for real. I have visited his chat room a few times when I have general questions about trading. He...
