FDIC cover for non USA citizens

So, from the above, you're cool as long as you can get into the US

Will the S&P hit 1000 or 700 first?

Most everybody seems to be afraid of all financial instruments, but I don't see the US getting beat up more than the rest of the world. From what I've read, Europe is in the same straights, without a tested central authority. The dollar bubble has the most air in it, for now.

This is what stimulus plan should have been!

Best idea I've seen to date. Literally, best one I've seen in any print, blog, tv, radio, period. In 8 months. Wish you'd published this 6 weeks ago. What the hell, throw it out there, it's probably not too late. You know there'll be another handout *cough, i mean stimulus package...

    Credit Default Swaps (CDS) wtf?

Last I heard back in October there was an estimated $62 T in outstanding CDS. Haven't heard a peep since then. Can't imagine they're out of the woods, although haven't seen a big firm BK since then. Is this perhaps why? Anyone keeping tabs on this? It's mostly beyond my understanding but...

Time Magazine Rates the top 25

'yes, i agree. but i would say that had these mortgages not been securitized up the wazoo, then the crisis would have been much less intense. really just a real estate drop.' Not that I disagree, but securitization wasn't the big problem, it seems to have been leverage of the securitizations...

Best Short-Term ETF for trading crude oil spot price?

From my notes, DOY/UOY also track the WTI spot price. Both have low vol compared to other sector ETFs; I haven't traded either one.

    Indiana Gold Bugs (from Dealbreaker)

If this legislation has been passed, I'd say it's refreshingly proactive. Didn't read too deeply into the language of the bill, any idea on which "certain" transactions are required to be made in gold?

    Who remembers Jan 1995?

Guess I should have elaborated: what were the event(s) that kicked off your year of glory?

    Who remembers Jan 1995?

So, on election of a conservative congress, the market anticipates forthcoming reforms. I could see that. I also notice this break is within 1 yr of the boomer generation average demographic age of 40; any revisions to investment (401k, capital gains, etc...) policy expected or passed at this...

    Who remembers Jan 1995?

Sorry, screen capture quality is pretty rank. Looking at the Dec '94/Jan'95 period on the S&P 500, significant and lasting break from previous trendline

    Who remembers Jan 1995?

Looking at the attached chart, who can recall policy/fiscal/other events that may have caused this breakout?

    US Long Bond Futures

I don't know specifically what TBT holds, but look at the volume in the last week. This thing is loading up.

    Why favorable R:R?

{Cutten- "In my experience, trades which have fundamentals, technicals, sentiment, price patterns and valuation all in their favour are the ones with the highest win rate & payoff, and therefore expectancy.") That's been the growling feeling in my belly the last 10 months of...

Michael Lewis (Liar's Poker) - The End Of Wall Street's Boom

Wow, that is a great read. Anyone not fully familar with the sub-prime meltdown can learn a thing or two. Any idea how FrontPoint Partners has performed this year? They definitely got the call right.

Looks like a classic 2B top ala Trader Vic. Does this mean we've just begun the break into the bear?

    Bill Ackman, Charlie Rose Interview

Saw the interview also, definitely a smart guy, but have to wonder if his statement about "buying opportunities of a lifetime" isn't a bit premature. I think there is downside yet to come, with at least one test of the 2002/03 lows, and probably some action below that.

Pelosi eliminating 401k in lieu of government retirement?

We already have a bankrupt required contribution plan. Why create another, unless to form an additional slush fund for congress to distribute as it sees fit? What rational person buys into this kind of crap? I've been down and out, broke, no vehicle, no job, and even then still didn't believe...
