    Some observations on scalping Crude

Nice work lolo24ck. I have been scalping crude only intermittently this week because I am focusing primarily on ER2 at the moment since it is a more intense environment. :) Seems to me that Oil is in no man's land now but the longer it stays in this range the more powerful the up move will...

    Best Index Futures for Intraday-Trading?

qq12, I agree, if one's strategy is dependent on stops they should not be in ER2. I do not use stops because basically I get in at the extremes of little swings when others are stopped out and I get out when the price returns to the imaginary mean. GC

FXCM sucks. I am sick of slippage in fills.

Most often in the futures there is a two point bid/ask but at times it is one point. My comission at IB is 3.86 round turn(unbundled) because I place a lot of orders in ER2 and CL. So theoretically I can have a profitable trade within a one pip fluctuation in the E-mini currencies. When...

    Why do you read ET?

I am a solitary trader. Reading the threads on ET and sometimes contributing to them makes me current and I feel I am a member of a community.

    Some observations on scalping Crude

I have noticed this week that as opposed to the indices being affected by oil sometimes the general liquidation affected oil. It is difficult to trade a market that is being pushed and pulled by other influences. This week the primary action markets were the indices and that is where I am...

    Profitable e-Mini Setups

Why not invent your own? It could be fun. BTY, In busy periods there are more data points and reference points and volume clues and some of the traders are acting in haste, basically more opportunities. GC

Starbucks: Free Coffee - Starbucks Coffee Break March 15th

Sorry, but I find the custom to oversize products (to sell more ) ridiculous and the people who fall for it suckers. If the coffee is good it does not have to be large. GC

    Question for oil traders

CLJ07 is the TS symbol for the April electronic contract.. QM is liquid all right. There are invisible potential orders by the arbs to keep it in line and facilitate size. I got frustrated and quit trading QM because I have to type an extra digit when placing orders. :) GC

    Best Index Futures for Intraday-Trading?

I love to trade ER2 and lately CL. Big orders on both side mean an orderly market like in ES. An orderly market is not the best condition for a very short term (VST) trader. When ER2 is rocking back and forth I can count on a fill at the extremes of 30 40 point swings and very often...

Here Is The Criminality That Stacks The Odds Against 'Us'

There has been a lot of front running and throwing winning trades into favored people's accounts in the futures markets as long as I can tell. Some of you will remember that one of the announced presidential candidates made 100K in the futures markets starting with just one K. When asked how...

A Little Help: Best Objective Source To Learn About Trading E-Mini Futures

This board offers the most current and extensive information on trading one can have. As far as instruments, the best mover among the indices relative to margin is ER2 because it can easily move $1000 in a day. In my book for less experienced traders the NQ is the best. It has good range...

    Some observations on scalping Crude

Thanks for the responses. I find the following comment interesting. CL may be a bit of a loose cannon and I imagine that the profile of the variety and numbers of participants and techniques would not make a perfect bell curve as it would with a mature market like ES. That is why I like...

    IB for forex?

There is a simple way to work around IB TWS shutting down at 4:30. Before IB's TWS is ready to shut down late afternoon it will prompt you and you will have a chance to change the setting and extend the session. Change the setting to the middle of the next session and when that prompt...

    Some observations on scalping Crude

Tyrant, vst = very short term (it is not really scalping) Being off the floor it may be difficult to just trade the bid/ask spread IB symbol cl (full contract) 'CLJ07', mini size qm. I trade in both directions, only the cl. The overall trend does not seem to matter. I do better when I...

    Some observations on scalping Crude

I've been trading ER2 most recently but seeing that the way Crude is bouncing around during most days I believe it makes a better VST vehicle and I have left trading ER2 or the other indices for now. On first thought one would guess that because of all the streaming internal statistics...

Why do people use Volume, Range and Tic charts?

There is a lot of confusion about labeling indicators and how they differ from others. I am not as much interested in figuring out how they are exactly constructed but what aspect of price movement are they revealing and how I could use them to make my method a bit more honed to the market...

    Who's your trading idol?

I admire Darvas. Because he was a professional dancer he was on the road a lot and sometimes he was unable to contact his broker for weeks yet he figured out a way to make his investments grow and pass on his method. When I see hip people in NYC clutching a water bottle as if they would die...

List of 5 Traders Worth Studying

In this thread we are comparing successful solitary traders to succesful traders who also built a trading organization. Does it make sense? Still, I would like to add to the list of traders to be studied Mark Kingdon. (Kingdon Capital) Low profile, no website but manages many 'yards' and he...

    They 40 year old daytrader

I am one of the four or five remaining charter subscribers to Futures Magazine (used to be called Commodities), that is how long I have been trading and I am in my sixties. I love to trade and I am day trading ER2 and Crude these days and I have never had more fun trading. What younger...

Why do people use Volume, Range and Tic charts?

Thanks to everyone, specially to ProfLogic for this great thread. I thought I'll share some of my observations because I recently started using sized tick charts in my trading again and it's been making a difference. I have been trading off and on since the late sixties. My first...
