    Pictures of your trading stations

I feel your pain. I have 17" of Samsung CRT love sitting on my desk, and I'm looking forward very much to the day that I replace it with a couple of LCD panels.

    Comments on INTC?

Well, INTC more or less announced what was expected, so there wasn't really a positive or negative suprise on their part. INTC is not doing very well right now, but the market might be taking into consideration that INTC appears to have some interesting products being launched during Q3 (the...

    Rmbs...wtf????????

This is why I haven't touched RMBS during its run upwards, I felt that the risk was far too high.

    Comments on INTC?

Nitro provided an excellent explanation for you, all I would like to add is that GM's action today is a fairly good example of this. Company lost a few hundred million this quarter, but apparently this shows signs of turnaround, so stock rallies. Generally speaking the market's reaction to...

I screwed up, I'm still learning.

I think we might be using upside and downside to mean different things. With me, I mean profit. So a short strangle has a limit on profit potential (upside) and unlimited loss potential (downside). I'm by no means an options expert, but let's consider a hypothetical stock trading today at...

I screwed up, I'm still learning.

Wouldn't that instead be limited upside and unlimited downside? The payoff is an upside down V. Condor seems more sensible to me, since you would be limiting your downside.

    Ice...wtf??????????

Stock is rapidly approaching the 52 week high again, will be interesting to watch and see what happens once it hits that area of resistance.

I'd be interested to see the premiums you sold your puts for and what your payoff scenario looked like.

Real estate insiders go bearish in blogs

That's an interesting business model, I'll have to read up on them once my exams are done. I realize that this is one manner that banks make money (borrow at low rates, lend at high rates, profit on the spread), but it's kind of interesting that a publicly traded company would do this with MBSs...

Student loan debts are becoming major problem

Sounds like a very intelligent way to go, I hope to do the same for myself someday.

    Comments on INTC?

Reaction to earnings was fairly neutral, judging by AH activity (slight rise in share price). Bad news, perhaps not as bad as some feared, and difficult to determine exactly when things will start to look rosier for the company (Q2 probably isn't going to be very nice for the company either)...

    Chart watch - TZOO

I agree with what you are saying, I will monitor TZOO carefully for a pullback. I suspect that interest in the stock is going to increase somewhat, for both fundamental and technical reasons. Regarding the latter, low float and high volatility makes this an interesting stock for daytraders...

    Chart watch - TZOO

I agree. I miss a fair number of trading opportunities because I'm highly reluctant to buy into a stock that has had a dramatic upwards move, because I'm not yet comfortable with the risk involved (good examples being BDCO, RAR.V, etc.). I prefer to look for what I consider to be high...

    The Coming Oil Crisis

I seem to recall that energy efficiency has greatly increased over the years, specifically there is some form of (energy consumed/unit of GDP) relationship. I think that people should be a lot more concerned about the housing bubble than rising energy prices, because the former is (in my...

Real estate insiders go bearish in blogs

I personally find it amusing every time I read something in the business news that was put out by someone with a vested interest in property markets continuing to be hot (mortgage brokers, realtors, etc.). I hope that at least some of the readers pause to consider the inherent bias of such...

    1k to 100k

I personally think that this is a matter of the "haves" vs. the "have nots". Since I'm at the very beginning of building up my wealth, I can certainly relate to the individuals posting here that are wanting to build up a large trading account from trading alone. That said, I also realize that...

    Comments on INTC?

Curious to open this up again for discussion regarding earnings release tomorrow. I think the general consesus seems to be that INTC is going to report a bad quarter, but nobody seems to agree on what will happen after that. One person I've seen on TV (that I actually have some respect for)...

    Chart watch - TZOO

Well, I just woke up (was up late studying last night), and this isn't quite the result that I was expecting (this is only the second time that I've had a stock move on me like this). They sure did blow out earnings... I suppose that some would argue to hold onto this trade, let my winners...

    1k to 100k

I just read that. So the guy loses $10K+ on his position, stock is tanking, and he decides to "average down"?? I guess the thing that kind of suprises me about this is that he didn't at least utilize a different strategy, such as a strangle. I realize that pre-earnings probably isn't the...
