Are there any Trading Educators that work?

Personally I believe any vendor should be able to produce their trading blotters (actual trading records) to be credible. If all they're doing is talking without PROOF (eg IB statement screencaps etc) of their personal trading success, then I'd avoid them. That's my 'show me the money'...

Jon Stewart Just Crucified Cramer & CNBC

this video is also good: http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/showbiz/2009/03/13/romans.cramer.stewart.showdown.cnn personally I've had financial news tv on "mute" since the late 90s, I ignore talking heads completely and only look at the data (spoos/nas futs, premkt gaps etc).

Traders' Expo this weekend in NYC - anyone?

It seems that attendance was up a bit compared to last fall's Vegas show, which was good -- overall I was pleased to see that the vendors didn't seem to be overselling; it was a bit subdued, which was good. The quality of most of the speakers was good, I liked seeing both familiar faces and...

Transaction Tax Bill has now been introduced

let's hope this turkey bill doesn't make it out of committee and doesn't get legislated... it would effectively kill daytrading and most swing trading as we know it. boy am I glad the socialists are in control now, it means "death by higher taxes" for at least the next 4 years.

    Why Not Interactive Brokers?

As a longtime IB trader I can say I'm thrilled with them as a broker, and they're my primary broker for my active trading accounts. IB rocks. -ken

Do You Think Trading is Gambling?

Exactly. Trading has a lot in common with gambling, but unlike casino gaming, you can and should trade when the odds are in your favor based on tape reading and chart and candle patterns. So unlike gambling, it's possible to do very well over the long term with trading, if you "get it"...

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

welcome to the new socialist order that the poor people voted into office... bah. let's hope this doesn't pass. unfortunately there's a lot more poor people than rich people, and they're in charge now, and will tax us every which way they can. -k

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

I really hope this doesn't happen, it would harm individual traders. And they're targeting "speculators" -- what's wrong with speculation? This would damage everyone who wants to day and swing trade. It's the "anti active traders tax". Fight it with all power. -k

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

Great point - I'm happy to trade 1k shares and take .20 out of it; over and over again; a .25% tax on each side would kill day trading as we know it. At least it's just talk for now, by non-policy makers, an isolated incident, but it goes to show how the "grab rich folks' money and give it...

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

Let's hope the socialists don't pass this new tax. So far it's just an economist and a newspaper columnist talking. What's more disturbing is how many freaking idiots out there actually agree. "yes let's tax speculators and the rich, and give to the poor" they say... boo. First the @#$...

Ideas on how to scale up to trade larger size?

Hi - I've found for myself over the years that I tend to limit my share size in trades to no more than 1K shares/trade... often 100-300 shares is the average size. But then I realize that on a good day, my best profit is then limited to 3-4K, and many days less than that. I can make more...

The 4 stages of single women in NYC

You guys are exactly right, for Western women. Terrific insights you've posted about aging and values by decade... I agree. But why limit yourself to Western women, born in the USA? I found, after dating literally several hundred women in my 20s (I was a player, with a 300zx, all over the...

    Firearm Wanted

Big fan of protecting oneself here (and trained in house clearing, tactical defensive firing etc). I will never sell any of my guns. I've had many friends who are LEOs over the years (heck I almost became HPD back when I moved to Hawaii, 15 years ago myself - I respect our police and military...

    Kathy Lien and Boris Schlossberg

Boris and Kathy are on the short list of people worth learning fx from (along w/Bain and Nison), imo. I'm very careful about who I work with/recommend (because a lot of you are right to be skeptical of 99% of people who are vendors in this industry; most vendors are bs), however Boris is on...
