e-miNY crude oil and gas futures changes

Quite a few of us I would say. Take a look at QN which I also trade - very thin volume compared to a week ago. It will probably pick up over the next week or two as things settle down. Still NYMEX once again demonstrate their ludite tendencies.

Man Financial wins bid for Refco

If Roger's fund customers get screwed here it stinks. I hope Jimmy gets a fair hearing in court. He shouldn't have to go that far. Bad news for all of us IMHO.

Natural Gas prices making a top?

Do you seriously trade Nat Gas one year out on a weekly scale? The high of the current front month was put in 4 weeks ago. We are currently looking to close the gap down to 10.814 - IMHO. I got short a week ago. But I run tight stops on a 30 minute chart thank you very much.

    Broker Financials

I thought this spreadsheet of various broker capital ratios was interesting in the light of Refco...clearly a large absolute net worth is no guarantee...interesting just the same.

Is gold still trading mainly on the pit?

To me the only relevance is the difference in slippage between the two - depending on one's volume. It seems to me up to about 5 cars is about the same (given the bid/ask spread on the electronic 100 oz) after that I would use the pit. So for under 5 cars why not use the electronic: 1) to...

Best broker for pit traded grains

Shoppers also need to be very clear about getting an "all in" quote. Many brokers advertise their "commission" rate but then add on lots and lots of fees.

    Nat Gas trading

I was trading the NG pit contract but have switched to the QG and am very happy with how that is going - fills are great. My volume is no more than 6 contracts at a time so watch for thin markets. I use a StopLimit order for entries and Stop Market for exits. A nice volatile market. Leapfrog.

Attention: To Interactive Brokers, et. al.

Hey all you brokers who lurk here, why don't you give us the benefit of your "inside" knowledge and tell us all HOW MANY OF YOUR CUSTOMERS MAKE MONEY? You could at least confirm or deny that '95%+ of all traders lose money'. IB in particular should be the best suited to know these numbers...

    Boston Real Estate

I agree that they seem way out of line. I bought here (Waltham) in 1996 and my house has appreciated over 120% since then. There was a good article in the Boston Globe over last weekend showing that rents were about half the cost of servicing a mortgage (apples to apples). So either rents...
