Odds Czar: Simple Biases in the Futures Markets 2007

OX day tomorrow - we always seem to get some interesting action on such days. Maybe because so many people stay out of the markets on such days that large orders have an effect that they wouldn't have normal days?

Thanks - that's what I thought. Not that I can trade them - just that I like to follow them. Regards, ETU

Hi Art, Does your model reference the currency pair or the currency on it's own? E.G: If your model sums negative for the CHF does that mean that A)) the USD/CHF is negative or that B) the CHF is negative on its own (which would make the pair +)? Regards ETU

"Strong - neutral - weak" without reference points and ranges? Oh well, good luck with it. ETU

Hi Art, First I have to tell you that I know little about the markets and trading. I'm an old (very) guy who messes around in the market for a hobby. What follows is more in the way of asking your opinion of my views rather giving you my opinion. I hope that makes sense? Secondly I...

Absolutely Art. Don't feel you're on your own. Wifey's calling me for dinner now (you know how they get if you don't drop everything and go at once) so I'll reply in a little more detail later. ETU

"If you want something done quickly - give to a busy person."* *A saying in the UK. Art said: "i'm a busy guy. maybe after feb i'll be able to provide additonal breakdowns. stay sharpjonny," There was a professor Heathcote Parkinson at the London School of Economics, used to come with...

Maybe it's called a "short squeeze"? Many, including Art and me, thought that after a few days of higher closes that there would be a sell off. I console myself with the thought that if even an expert such as Art can get it wrong then there is still hope for an old duffer like me. My...

And how about this then? My wife looked your site "pardogroup" and said: "He looks like a very nice man." I've been married to her for 50 years and she's never said anything half as nice to me! You must have something! :)

I've always just put the date on the chart. No big deal. Art, I really appreciate what you do. I find it very useful for the type of trading I do. Thanks! Good luck and regards to all (and a Happy New Year!) ETUser

Don't feel too bad Art. Although I lack your experience and expertise I too thought the Russell was due for a dive two days running. I capitulated today - now watch it turn on a time :-) Someone told me that there had been very heavy program trading yesterday and today with the "big money"...

Neither do I use volume but I was looking for some sort of correlation with the (approx) 1:00 PM postings, and I saw something. Look for yourself. FYI I tend to use price only - but that's for another debate. regards, ETUser

    The Chronicles of Rennick

I thank you for your comments but the market I trade does have low volume on Friday afternoons. Sounds as though you may have got burnt Thursday PM? If so I'm sorry but I have no doubt that you will be able to make it up. If you didn't get burnt then it's a testimony to your skill and...

I thought I didn't say you were front running, I wondered if you were. You can clear it all up by saying why you post proprietary information (noted it is with the consent of the originator). I acknowledge the market was down marginally yesterday but because of the thin afternoon volumes on...

I dedicate this post to those trusting souls who will be unable to type and therefore trade tomorrow because they have to blow on their burnt finger tips. To those who decided to go with the short squeeze - jolly good show. ETUser (cynically) out.
