Dodd: Fannie, Freddie portfolio caps could be lifted

You seems to have mixed up two things: the limit on conforming loans and the limit on the size of portfolio the GSE can hold. Dodd was talking about the latter and you about the former.

Berkshire Hathaway Loads Up On Financial Stocks

Yes and No. The builder company that Buffet bought is in manufactured housing, which is counter cycle to the ordinary builders. So when the other home builders peaked, the manufactured home builder bottomed. It is as simple as that.

    Housing Rolling Along 2

Where is your number, especially the exsiting home prices, coming from? Beware that the OFHEO home price index is not highly regarded. The Shiller/Standard &Poor index on exisiting home sales is much more reliable though it only covers 10 cities.

Cramer: "Why does everybody hate me?"

After reading his first book "confession of a street addict", I got the impression that he basically traded on inside information. However, recently I read his other book "real money", and realized that this guy does have a lot of insight and a lot of experience going for him

    China and the United States

As someone pointed out, the import to US from China is only 16% of all imports, Canada is the #1 importer to US. So China is only a marginal importer. What is the real reason of the trade inbalance? Why cannot US export to China? One reason is that US companies cannot export high tech to...

Executive pay and equality -- a few facts

Definition aside, most companies in China nowadays are private companies, neither state-owned nor listed in any stock exchanges. Even if you are a high official in those companies, you don't get paid much unless you are also an owner. This is also the case in Hong Kang. I wonder where did the...

Executive pay and equality -- a few facts

I would say this study is quite mis-leading. What are the definitions of senior executives? The results depend on the definition! A better approach is to look at the pay of CEO vs average employee pay. Also, the numbers on China is definitely wrong. The corruptions in China is partially due...

    Housing Rolling Along 2

Just checked the insider trading of major home builders on Yahoo. It seems that insiders are selling the stocks of their own companies like craze, the only exception being Plute Home (symbol: PHM). http://finance.yahoo.com/q/it?s=DHI

Althucher guesses: trend funds to disappear within the next 10 years...

This is a very good point. The hedges of derivatives, e.g. options, is very much trend following by definition. So even without the competition from trend following funds, it is likely that too many people are following the trends.

Probably not. It's a broken growth stock that has lost momentum. The insiders are selling. More competitions coming.
