    Money Management Rules Day Trading

You should think before you post. I certainly do not use ATR for stop placement, but my stop placement is based on technical factors. Risk management rules then decides the size of the position, i.e., how many contracts I can trade and when to stop trading for the day. Other situations that...

    Money Management Rules Day Trading

    Monroe Trout's Risk Management Rules: a) Risk/lose no more than 1,5 % of total equity on a single trade b) Maximum daily loss of 4 % c) Maximum loss of 10 % per month - - - For my account at 15K, this means: a) 225 USD -> 4,5 ES points per 1 contract; 2,25 ES points per 2 contracts b) 600...

Best Advice You Could Give A Beginner?

    - The best advice would be to give up. - The second best advice is this: Those who know something worthwhile does not usually share it while those who don't know anything worthwhile beyond general platitudes dispense their advice freely. What this means is that any mentoring or advice you will...

    Ninja Trader 8-Showing % Change?

Truth be told - there's a lot of basic stuff NT 8 does not provide. Instead of suggesting 3rd party add-ons - I think NT should implement these things themselves. I've coded various basic stuff in NT8 myself as it's simply not offered in NT.

Software or method for quickly looking up charts of 10-20 historical market days?

Hi all. Let's say I'm backtesting data in Excel and am left with 20 historical market days from various separate dates I'd like to check out visually in a chart. Let's say on a 5-minute chart. Is there a software I could use to do this quickly as opposed to having to scroll/enter each day...

Anyone using the huge curved monitors?

Nothing fancy. I use a Dell gaming laptop. I think it's this one: https://www.dell.com/si/business/p/inspiron-15-7577-laptop/pd I bought a rack and mounted the laptop under my desk, so I have a very clean desk with zero clutter. I may have to (want to) upgrade my computer this year, though...

Anyone using the huge curved monitors?

The Dell I use have a resolution of 5120x1440. But it's pricey of course.

Day trading (index) futures with IB?

Appreciate the input, Bum. I use Dorman. Works fine so far. Best regards.

Anyone using the huge curved monitors?

Quite a few flat out stupid comments here. First of all - the curve ain't that big. Second - you're not likely to spread out a chart over an entire wide screen anyway. And even if - the curve won't be a problem. I use a 49" Dell. Works great for me. That said - you're not getting any more...

Day trading (index) futures with IB?

Thanks. I wanted to use AMP, actually, but they don't support Ninjatrader. Currently set up with NT Brokerage which seems to work fine for day trading futures. I believe they have similar margins/commissions to AMP.

Day trading (index) futures with IB?

Thank you, Bum. For me, I imagined the TWS platform in addition would mean increased security in case something happened with Ninja. Is this really a problem? Also - was it always like this? I actually used this set-up like 8 years ago or so and don't recall any issues. Mind me asking which...

Day trading (index) futures with IB?

Hi all. I'm considering opening an account with IB for day trading US index futures. I do however feel their margins is a tad too high. Particularly since I seem to recall that IB increases margins even higher during periods of increased volatility. Can anyone confirm if the latter is true...

Any advice for a soon to be full-time trader?

That's just part of the process. No shortcuts for anyone there. :) In hindsight, for me, I've lost too much money on the 'educational process' and discovering flaws in my system which could have been avoided by simulation trading or at least minimum size. Likewise! Howard

Any advice for a soon to be full-time trader?

Don't worry about hijacking it. As you're now discovering - there's a difference between backtested/hypothetical results on a dead chart with no money risked versus a faster, live chart and having to make fast decisions on the go while risking money. It certainly changes things a lot. For me...

Any advice for a soon to be full-time trader?

My apologies. I was in a hurry the last time I posted and I see that you've actually done quite well (I mistakenly thought you were in drawdown for an entire month). Intriguing. How do you envision that? I thought you already said your system was fully automated? Wouldn't you also be worried...

    Fundseeder - my experience

I would if I could connect directly through Ninjatrader/Ninjatrader Brokerage. An alternative is of course to switch brokerage to Interactive Brokers, but I felt their (intraday) margins were a tad too high the last time I checked. And correct me if I'm wrong - they tend to increase margins...

Any advice for a soon to be full-time trader?

It's my firm belief that you shouldn't be experiencing drawdowns and losses if you're successfully day trading. Aim for daily and weekly profitability. If you find yourself losing money frequently - you should put in the hours and research needed in order to arrive at a place where you're...

Any advice for a soon to be full-time trader?

That's a stretch, but I'm certainly not doing this to earn a living. I'm extremely ambitious and my end goal is to become filthy rich and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish that. I'm done playing around. It's time. Retaining profits and compounding them through increasing...
