Maximizing chances of getting filled on ECNs

Agreed, with all the Bot trading goin' on, you'll likely get all 3 filled at once if it happens.

    IB Suggestions & Improvements

Tie the alerts, bulletins, messages to the main TWS window, not the primary monitor. When you have multiple screens and can't transmit/cancel etc. because you have to close out an alert, bulletin or message it gets very costly to find it, move your cursor all the way across multiple screens...

    IB auto-locate

I've got better things to do than call stock loan desks...so this new IB feature is really nice. All considering, I think it's fast enough, given the process of finding a Hard-to-Borrow. I believe IB said that this was the additional interest rate cost, but a good solid clarification from...

    IB Suggestions & Improvements

First: Thanks for the ishare intraday NAV index quote fixes for all those symbols. And: I've had problems with basket share quantities not updating properly (all are round lots). When I get an execution of 500 on a 1000sh order, it will SOMETIMES (10+-% of the time), re-transmit the full...

    IB Relative orders not working

Hmmmmm........Is this some IB logic used to prevent you from pennying yourself, if you're the NBBO quote on that exchange? That said, it makes me think that this gives an "in" to those who know they'll be in the front of the order queue given a couple repeated "pennyings" on the same...

    IB Relative orders not working

Thanks, jimmy, will do. Ok, checked.: Relative Order Pricing Logic When you submit a relative buy (sell) order, the offset amount is added to (subtracted from) the best bid (ask) price and the order is submitted as a limit order. The pricing algorithm continually monitors the market and...

    IB Relative orders not working

Relative orders are functional here, but I do have one weird quirk. When the order adjusts to 'up or under' the other Bid or Ask, it'll often MATCH the price that was to be 'pennied/nickled-or whatever'....this being on the same exchange/ECN, so that you are actually behind that order at the...

Pre-routing to major exchanges at 9:27 AM

It'll likely stay on the primary exchange for the day, cancel/replacing itself to avoid the specialist charges. Yet, since it is routed SMART+RTH it'll go off the primary (only after the open, and only during reg. trading hours) to execute against anyone matching your price, if they do...

Pre-routing to major exchanges at 9:27 AM

Specialist charges that can occur when direct routed. Also if you want it to go smart AFTER the the opening print, and you weren't part of it, you have to cancel, and replace the order via smart, since you originally direct routed.

Pre-routing to major exchanges at 9:27 AM

alanm is correct, it is re-route. It goes onto an ECN, then at 9:27 it flips to NYSE or AMEX depending on what you trade. You can have it avoid going onto an ECN pre-market by checking RTH (regular trading hours only) box in order defaults. If you do, it'll sit as pending until 9:27, then...

    Maxtor Drive Died

Yeah, I've had rebate problems with the company they use to process the rebates, the new set up they use can be a real pain. ...speaking of drive enclosures: Here's a great universal one I've got...

Ameritrade + TD Waterhouse = What Commissions?

The last I heard, the TD waterhouse fee schedule will be in place for a bit yet for the TD cutomers. Ameritrade doesn't change. I'd bet that they adopt Ameritrade's schedule, especially given the Izone schedule. Amerivest see the following link: TD waterhouse banking operations shut down...

    Maxtor Drive Died

Got 11 drives, 6 WD, 4 Seagate, 1 maxtor. All operating properly, maxtor performs the worst for me, seagate & WD are about tied, when compared on tech specs vs. tech specs from what I see using them. I'd recommend both seagate and WD. Drives are so cheap, why bother even calling tech...

    IB Suggestions & Improvements

We're all on the same page here. The problem is that "the people that know better", aren't that many. Yes, a longer password set(if used) does indeed take an exponentially greater time to crack, even if it's not the best password--that's what helps create the safety for the poorly chosen...

    IB Suggestions & Improvements

A PC (or string of networked in-line computers), can attempt millions of brute force tries per second. IF you use all possible characters types allowed, an 8 character password shouldn't get broken. This does take some work, actually, creating a good password with only 8 maximum characters...

    Zone Alarm

My best investment ever: Norton ghost 2003. It'll save your ass and your computer over and over again. Be sure to have 2 drives, and plenty of up to date ghosts when doing major installs of any kind. When CA suite trashed my system.....I just threw in the other drive, ghosted over the...

    Zone Alarm

Running ZA pro 6.1.737 with no problems. I've had major probs with Computer assoc. internet security suite, which uses CA branded Zone alarm software for their firewall. They may be damn near identical to the ZA suite? (gotta google for the true relationship between these products). The CA...
