    Trader P/L 2005

Outstanding day Echo, on heavy volume too! Over the years I've noticed that my profitablility is highly correlated to my volume & market volitility. Just wanted to congratulate everyone.....looks like the blotters continue to improve every month! ....and just so the moderator doesn't...

    Asia Pacific

Kospi does trade on it's own. Japan is of no real value correlation-wise. It's like saying mexico is a good correlation trader to the U.S.. Japan & the U.S. are world power economies, Korea & Mexico are emerging. If you're looking for 1+ day time frame exposure to the Kospi, try...

    Dual Citizenship

Go to Texas.......dime a dozen for $250-350k or less, easily. Real estate boom??? Not in Texas......really sad, we're down 1-5% in most places over the last 5 years. We've got more nice stucco places than you can shake a stick at. No state income tax to boot, but property taxes run 2-3% per...

    NYSE Billable orders

Any NYSE limit order that remains on the specialist's book longer than 5min. is billable. Yes, you can simply xcel/replace every 4:59...and not be charged. IB has instituted an automatic cancel replace for NYSE orders routed SMART. MB trading's MBTX route also automatically cancel replaces them...

    Trader P/L 2005

Guess I shoulda kept posting. Taking myself outta the loop for the rest of the month, trader stop-loss. I've been working on too many new niches this month, and am spread too thin, trading is also too sloppy, and psychologically not in the right mindset. Given away over 30k of profits this...

    Mexico?

A good synopsis. To add: Mexico lore is generated by the border crimes. There IS a great deal of crime in these areas ( the first 50 miles south of the US border)....otherwise it's a very very low crime place with very gracious people. towns

    IB Suggestions & Improvements

I've also requested that IB make regional quotes and routing available. I'm not a big fan of the regional exchanges, but many do offer instant execution...to balance the number of times they back away from a quote. In the end, they're somewhere between NY and Amex in quality. In the end, we...

    Trader P/L 2005

Easy, joeyata.....I'm still around, but said Aug. 31st was my last posting for P/L (1 full month). I DO live on an island, and elsewhere.......but I surely don't own one exclusively....yet :p . If you're all craving an update, here's the rough scoop: Kicked major ass first couple days in...

    The Tax Bite

I'm just the messenger. I don't agree or disagree with it....this is just how the IRS treats it. It's a UBIT issue for trad & roth IRAs. Contact a CPA or read the laws & rulings yourself.

    The Tax Bite

From greencompany site: "There are restrictions on IRA investments. IRA investment guidelines limit what investments can be made, and disallow “self-dealing” or “prohibited transactions.” For more information on these guidelines see “The Dos and Don’ts of IRA Investing”...

    The Tax Bite

Frequent trading is fine, and is acceptable in an IRA (given correct settlement periods.)Daytrading gets a bit more grey, even if you can settle it with cash. Watch ERISA problems for non-IRA employment plans, and UBIT problems in an IRA. If you're trading as a trader, no other employment...

    The Tax Bite

mschey is correct. It's a newer ruling by the IRS. Ultimately, it comes down to turnover, especially if you are, or were, a trader. They don't like an investment shelter being abused for the purposes of running a trading business, and have clarified their rulings/laws to reflect it. Tred...

Does anyone else think this is a suckers rally?

Not that it makes sense....but it smells like a break-out to me. Unleaded up massive over last 2 days, doesn't exactly help workers to get to their jobs, or companies ship products. Seems like we should be lock limit down in the markets. That said, I've taken off my short side, and look...

    Trader P/L 2005

Thanks to DT for getting the thread going, it's very motivating. I got off my butt this month & started really trading again--it's been a while. Thanks, EchoPatrick, for the great ideas and sharing. I've set volume & P/L numbers this month that almost double anything previous, I just had ta...

    Trader P/L 2005

Still pissed. Was up all day....the reits spiked much harder than the rest of the market, at the close....and amex had 1x1's all the way up....so I couldn't cover with ARCA (IB doesn't have full on ARCA-ex.). Cost me $5k. Time ta get some better routing options. MTM -1.1k, realized about 2.1k.

    Trader P/L 2005

Tough tradin', no liquidity for size. Quote and routing probs all day too. Was in the red for about 80% of the day. MTM is about $600 more than realized, across all accounts.

    Trader P/L 2005

All discretionary trades today in the reits. RMP index was chopping wildly this morning, got almost every top and bottom in the a.m.. I lost almost 2k after it settled down - I was just churning shares. MTM is about $100 less than realized, across all accounts. Nice day. :p Did about...

    Trader P/L 2005

Slow day today, had to do some market making to be able to make my numbers. Runnin' into low volume/liquidity problems in some things. An arb came in, in the other account, added another +1.7k. MTM +9.8k across all accounts, realized 7.1k.
