No, I have not seen anything in writing in terms of an actual rule proposal. But I was told a few months ago that the Exchanges were considering treating "certain customers" as broker dealers which would shut them out at some Exchanges.

I believe it is a limitation. You could make the suggestion that IB adds this feature. It certainly will help if you only have the BEST quote up for NYSE stocks.

Well, firstly I don't believe this is the case at IB during "normal" market conditions. and you can test this by entering an order from your backup broker, which I have and you will once again see the quotes ARE reliable. IB has no idea that you entered an order via your backup broker thus...

a potential problem for NYSE stocks is that IB does not include some of the regional Exchanges and your level II quotes include all Exchanges. IB does not include them because they don't route to certain exchanges. Not sure if this makes a differance to some??

So, are you saying that IB only updates quotes in "real time" when you send orders on that security? Or is it just a coincidence that I'm constantly looking at the one right quote out of a 1,000 when I'm testing??

here is some advice: When you notice that quotes are crossed or appear to be incorrect. Put up all the ECN's for a stock and then pinpoint which ECN is causing the problems. It is easy to identify, then simply ignore that route (ie. Redibook today).
