    Technical Trading Setups Journal

Please give us mere mortals a clue.. At what time did you see it would break? And was the target based on a 100 pip move or something else?

Can you trade by price action alone?

Hi Lindq, Al doesn't run a "live" trading room and his site is mostly updated by a small group of followers. Al doesn't give trade recommendations and is very secluded. He wants to trade with as little distractions as possible and certainly doesn't take time to answer all kinds of...

Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

RN, thanks; great advice! How do you combine a meticulous study for price action with that kind of attitude? I assume you enter with a precise and thought out plan, but the moment you're in; you are also open for any new or contrary input. Another idea would be to simply plunge in and...

Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

Although both charts seem to have the same "set-up" (the close on M. vs the open on T.); YUM moved, but INTC only slightly (especially compared to the jump it made on W.) I'm confused about the volatility measurements, which might hold a key to their reactions. TO speaks of ADR; Achilles...

Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

I'm getting a bit confused... This thread started out as a kind of holy grail, which was apparently so obvious on charts, that every idiot could see it... There were lines drawn and everybody was puzzling for this secret method. At the same time a kind of "Trading in the Zone" talk...

Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

I don't know the symbol of this chart, but I'm guessing price could reach 35.60 today. [/B]

Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

You're right; that might be too obvious...:p I'll have a go... Monday was a wide range day with a close at the low. I think Redneck calls that red square a "Bart" (referring to the boxed head of Bart Simpson or maybe his spiky hair??) I understand it's a small trading range, an opening of...

Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

Sounds like the Zen of the Holy Grail:confused: Would you care to elaborate on that? - trade without stops? - enter random? - average down? - don't set targets or make predictions? Thanks

Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

+1 Newcomers, pay attention! The rest of us had to wait almost two years for this moment... The market is easy compared with the stress of solving all these puzzles and riddles.:) Thanks RN!

Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

Hi TO, Can you tell us when you would have entered a trade? If you won't tell the moment, please give us the day(s) only. Thanks, Onra

fib. expansion and retrace in forex

Thanks Shopster for this interesting thread and for sharing your own story with us. I'm very intrigued, but I'm struggling with the way some fibs are drawn. I include 3 random examples, in which I noticed that the 0% and 100% are not drawn at the exact highs or lows. Slight changes have a...

    Fitting the Curve?

Than it's all the parameters on the top right side; so about twelve. Can you give some comment on the number of trades, the Sharpe Ratio, Profit faktor etc., because I have no idea if I should look for less or more...

    Fitting the Curve?

Hi Intradaybill, It's all price action, based on bars, not on indicators.

    Fitting the Curve?

Well... just about every one you see... So about twelve + the timeframe

    Fitting the Curve?

Thanks; that's certainly an issue. We changed the pending orders to market orders, because there weren't filled sometimes. The latest version should allow more room between stop and limit price. In order to get an idea of the spread, I used a slippage of 4 (= 2 pips with Interactive Brokers)

    Fitting the Curve?

Hi all, I'm new to backtesting and I need your help and input :) This (automated) strategy runs on EUR/USD and other pairs, on several timeframes. I based the settings on backtest optimizations from 1/1/2010 on. My first three weeks live were not good and I don't know if I'm in a...
