    Will I be assigned?

Exactly, people are giving OP wrong advice... probably giving the poor guy a heart attack. You can sleep reasonably well this weekend. Your margin requirement for the naked call would have already been roughly equivalent to the margin requirement for covering the naked call*... IB isn't...

Barchart - weird data for GNK on 3/19?

On a related note... are there *any* data providers out there that provide a filtered historical data service? All of my historical feeds have glitches in it that are filtered out in real time... and the result is that it throws my code (which depends on stop orders in backtesting) to hell.

Barchart - weird data for GNK on 3/19?

Hey guys, Can someone else with a Barchart subscription check something for me, and let me know if I'm nuts? Look at GNK (NYSE) on 3/19, at 10 AM exactly. Barchart (1 minute bars) showed it spiking at about 14.40 - 14.50 at that point. My backtesting results were haywire, compared to...

90% tax on wall street workers - how does this affect traders?

My thought on this is... if I was one of the few actually valuable employees at AIG... I would be demanding a transfer to the London office, while also making plans to relinquish my US residency/tax status.

90% tax on wall street workers - how does this affect traders?

I'm not a big fan of the move either... but c'mon. Taxation for certain behavior is clearly *not* the same thing as criminalizing behavior.

    For people trading Europe/Asia/Australia markets

I like to trade a combo option/equity strategy... do you have any experience with European derivitives? How do I get quotes on options, ideally just a simple service showing me some greeks?

    Busting a trade

Gotcha. Well, that's still good info, because some of my fills have been ridiculous. Thank ya.

    Emergency Backup Plan

Is this a function of the broker...? It's hard to imagine a "major" retail broker being so difficult to reach, but I'd certainly like to know if that's not the case.

    Busting a trade

So... I'm really not a career trader, just an aspiring one. That's probably why I don't know the answer to this one. What the heck is a busted trade? I've done enough googling around to guess what it basically is. I know IB charges you $50 to declare a busted trade. My guess is that you...

    GE Put Options

Dude, you could've made your $50k for traveling around Italy and France by putting your 1 million in a muni-bond fund instead.

    Martingale With Strangles

The problem with martingales in general (and OTM put options for that matter) is that they don't fundamentally increase your earnings, there's just no alpha there. They just move around risk in such a way that you think you're winning... until your trade blows up in your face. I think...

    How is OptionHouse so inexpensive?

Turns out there's a long discussion here: http://www.elitetrader.com/vB/showthread.php?threadid=152275 And it seems mostly positive!

    How is OptionHouse so inexpensive?

How is it possible that OptionHouse is providing flat-rate trades? No one else charges less than $0.50/contract as far as I know... But OptionHouse can go $12.95 flat? I'm thinking about moving in/out of 200-contract positions on a regular basis (for hedging), so commissions will add up...

    eSignal Vs. IQFeed

Here's one more reason for me to like IQFeed (which I'm evaluating today)... their servers are based in Dallas, just down the block (17ms) from my hosted servers. Cool.

    Hedging big overnight moves?

That's not at all right, actually. I expect this position to be a loser, on average. This is only one leg of a larger strategy. I'm thinking of using this straddle as a hedge for other positions I'm holding, positions that are hurt by large overnight moves. So, I'm not expecting to use...

Advice on Multi-day strategy systems development

Oh, scratch that. In my real-time run configuration, I only look back 2-3 days (instead of my full 3 week horizon)... that's probably the reason for reduced memory consumption. One more advantage of the external position-tracking approach!

Advice on Multi-day strategy systems development

bridenour, By the way, maybe it's also related to the data source. I'm trying IQLink, and ninjatrader.exe is only consuming 85 MB of memory with the same 45 instruments * 4 bars, running real time.

    Hedging big overnight moves?

Option Oracle is configurable, and claims to be using option-specific (and I would take that to mean leg-specific) IV. Appreciate the tactical advice on the momentum trade, will consider that as well. Sounds like this is worth giving a try. I think my mistake earlier was looking at...

    Hedging big overnight moves?

I'm playing with Option Oracle, a tool I'm not too familiar with... but perhaps someone else can take a look at the numbers for me and see if I'm way off base. I'm looking at SPY, just wanted a broad index with tiny spreads. April expiration... - long 100 contracts call @ 80 ($1.83) -...
