    Any experience with Systematic Signals??

The answer to all of these questions is: If it was any good, wouldn't they be trading it themselves? A good system will pull far more money out of the market than it can possibly be sold for. Bad systems on the other hand can't make money in the market and can only make money for...

Do any brokers have IMB shorts?

Did you know a 1 day short squeeze from $100 to $500 is nearly impossible, but a 1 day short squeeze from 0.10 to 0.50 is highly probable? Shorting a $5 stock is dicey, but shorting a $0.10 stock is stupid even if both end up at 0.

David Tice Predicts S&P to Fall Below 800 Level

I disagree. The meat of the original post "look what Tice said and I think he's cool" not "I think the S&P is going to 800". I even said the prediction was reasonable, but I hate giving credit to blowhards who say the same year after year and then think they've cured cancer when they finally...

How many of you make over 100k/day regularly day trading?

I suspect anyone making $100k/day automated wouldn't tell a soul. Someone making $1mil/yr with $100k swing would probably tell anyone who would listen.

David Tice Predicts S&P to Fall Below 800 Level

I'm not sure it's that outlandish call, but this guy's as big a permabear idiot as Abby Joseph Cohen is a permabull idiot. I'm not sure why it's news when he says something, because I can already tell you what he's going to say the next 20 years because he's been saying the same damn thing...

Im going long on FannieMae FNM

The problem is all the rumors are not only true but tend to understand the problems in the financials. The recapitalized FNM and FRE might be worth buying some of, but the current versions are going to 0. (The US gov't guarantees the debt, not the equity.)

Paying YOU $10,000-$50,000 Cash Bounty to hook me up with the right firm

Couldn't have said it better myself. Big hitters make their own edges. You aren't one of them.

    A very profitable strategy

Apparently, the system he bought for $10k was "try to convince a greater fool into paying $10k for this system" Nobody sells a working system. Nobody really even admits to having a working system. Any system you hear about probably sucks (99%). Any system for sale definitely sucks (100%).

    Chevron halted output

Nice try but Chevron would prefer oil go down at this point. Their refining operations are getting killed right now, because they the oil they buy is expensive and the gas they sell a) hasn't gone up as much b) is declining in terms of gallons/day sold. c) is going to be a real crappy...

    GOOG Short to 300

I think goog makes a lot more placing ads next to the search results than it does placing random crap on websites. If the money was in placing random crap on websites, MSFT wouldn't have been paying up for YHOO to have some chance of getting into the search game. Think about this: How much...

    GOOG Short to 300

Got any facts or even an example to support any of the above assertions? ask.com is still in business? I certainly haven't heard anyone say they were the best search engine. What's a type of query where they are substantially better? btw, Ask isn't competent enough to do their own ads and...

What do you think about Jim Cramer?

He's right about 45% of the time which makes him overall a loser, but not so much of a loser than you can fade him 100% of the time. He sucks even at sucking.

    Algo Trading in prop firm

If you're a google level coder it won't matter if you can't find an edge to exploit. It doesn't take a whole lot of skill to code up someone's working trading system. Developing a working trading system is probably 10-50 times harder than coding the thing if you're a decent programmer.

Do people get same results with real trading as backtesting?

For what it's worth 2-3 weeks of data seems too small to be useful. 2-3 months seems like the minimal amount. If that's their freebie amount then it's understandable, but if you're paying $1100 for access to only 3 weeks of data: a) they aren't giving you enough data to do anything with...

Do people get same results with real trading as backtesting?

If you're doing a good job not biasing your backtest and you're doing a sufficient trades to have confidence in your metrics, you can get about 90% of what your backtests predict. That said anyone selling you trading advice knows they can't actually trade off it (or atleast don't have the...

Day trading system -- how to promote

You seem pretty genuine unlike most of the other system sellers around here, so I won't call you an outright fraud right off the bat. Why don't you post a week's worth of trades on elite trader so we can see a forward test of the strategy? In order to have any shot at selling a system...

Anyone ever buy a REAL trading system???

Until it's obvious to you that anyone selling a system is selling a worthless system, you've got no shot at being a decent trader. Do the conditional probabilities/handicapping of a situation where person A has a valid system and person B has a junk system. What would either of them sell...

Citi selling $2bil in preferred, more common too?

Dilution is less of a concern when you're pretty sure your stock is worth zero (or at the very least much less than it currently is). If they go bankrupt the jackasses who caused the whole mess get fired. If said jackasses can instead dilute the hell out of the stock and manage to remain...

    Which system is better

Is there a standard way to calculate the standard deviation of a profit factor? You've got to group the trades as the PF for any individual trade is infinite or 0. I've tried various hacks that work well enough but I was wondering if there was a standard. Also I'm not sure I agree with the...

    Actively trading an IRA

I have an autotrade system that's doing well and I'm thinking about moving my Roth IRA to IB, hacking up some code and routing some of the trades through it in order to save on taxes. Has anyone done anything similar? I seem to remember an IRS directive that said at some point too many...
