    CNBC Question

To actually benefit from the nuggets that pop up occasionally from their otherwise reeking landfill of programming. How could anyone complain about the story they broke on GPS on Monday. That was pure gold on an otherwise humdrum day.

Agree 1000%. How could ET sell out to such a soulless, worthless "service" like TTN???

    BIDU - OK what's next for this bad boy 105? 125? 155? 75?

Hilarious...but totally wrong. It was Goldman who just came out "cautious" on the stock as it enters the Japanese market. But of course Goldman wants everyone to be cautious on this one...he had a "sell" rating on it went it was in the 80s.

    Cramer’s Latest Flip-Flopalooza

Some people totally dismiss Cramer, but since his recommendations often move stocks, he can’t be ignored. Yet, his flip-flop on Friday was so mind-boggling, I don’t know how the market can take his calls seriously any longer: At 1:59 PM EST these were his exact words at the very end of...

RIMM up on monday, I stake my reputation on it (my nickname heheeh)

Just closed out a nice intraday short. Why are you guys trying to push up a stock that is technically in no position to rise today?

RIMM up on monday, I stake my reputation on it (my nickname heheeh)

RIMM would be a more convincing long Monday if it had managed to close above its all-time high on Friday (103.56). I've seen stocks gap up to some resistance and then drift down (sometimes to even fill the gap). Beware.

    Bloomberg or CNBC

Yes, but every so often, they break a story that really moves the markets. On Thursday, Mike Huckman broke the HIV testing story and OSUR moved up 40% in 10 minutes....that trade made my week. I can live with the inane blathering and the brain-dead but beautiful Erin Burnett as long as they...

    BRCM is killing me

At the JPM Tech conference a few minutes ago, the CEO didn't exactly allay option-related concerns when he responded to a question: Did you guys backdate options: "We've established a committee to investigate this." Obviously, if they were no backdating taking place whatsoever, the CEO would...

The most expensive lesson you have learned in this business...

My account was $200k at the time, margined 10:1 so I lost "only" $100K from that nightmare. Worse, I had only been trading three months and thus didn't have a clue what I was doing. I spent the next 18 months in revenge mode, trying to get that money back, and lost another 50K in the process...

The most expensive lesson you have learned in this business...

Not for me. I will never see another tuition bill like the one described below even if I tried with all my might. On the first day of getting 10:1 margin in Jan of 2001, I tried some lunchtime scalping. I would short about $2m shares of stock and then buy it back. Making a couple hundred bucks...

VST, Congratulations on your trendspotting. But could you elaborate on the concept of a "range box"?

Why do We Make Trading so Difficult?

I think the reason some daytraders have trouble going with the trend is the amazing amount of chop that occurs during the week, therefore dulling your mind to when a real trend emerges. For instance, the NAS this week had one clear trending period...from Tues late AM to Wed late pm. (there were...

    Careless, and wasteful.

I think your experience is quite common among traders who are only modestly successful, and was the rule for those traders who blew up their accounts long ago and went into real estate (lucky dogs). The key is checking that impulse to enter the stupid trade. If you have traded long enough...

Eating salmon while trading will keep you sharp and focused. It is a rich source of eicosapentanoic acid ("omega-3s"). These essenital fatty acids are ciritical to optimal neurotransmitter function. I aced all my Grad School exams while nibbling salmon at my desk, although I did have to live...
