Simultaneous IB TWS acct use question

Hoi, From your post it sounds like you're talking about 2 different accounts (e.g U123456 and U987654) versus two different user accounts (also known as TWS logins) that are linked to a single trading account (U123456). SSB

Simultaneous IB TWS acct use question

This is not a second IB account -- just a second user on the first account -- check my instructions (above) for how to do this. SSB

Simultaneous IB TWS acct use question

I'm not sure about the other 100 symbols but if you're on the hook for the fee then yes I'd expect to get another 100 symbols for the second user account. The way they explained it to me yes you need $60 in commissions or you get hit with $20 in fees ($10 per account). I trade enough...

Simultaneous IB TWS acct use question

I'll take a shot (I'm not Steve, but I hope I'll do :) Yes you're correct you will log into the two instances of TWS with different user ids, but they will both be connected to the same trading account. One user should be able to see orders submitted by the other user (I can't verify this...

Simultaneous IB TWS acct use question

Sanjuro, I've done it...you go under Account Administration -> User Functions then you create a new account. Then you log into account management again with the new account login and password you choose, and subscribe to market data there too. Then when you log into TWS with the new ID...

Simultaneous IB TWS acct use question

When you try to login a second time on a different machine, the two TWS instances will essentially fight with each other, each one will keep booting the other off. You also cannot log into webtrader if you're already logged into TWS, it says that on the IB website. You need to log into the...

Simultaneous IB TWS acct use question

You can request for a second user to be created in the account management website. The second user must then subscribe to data (in the account management website logging in as the second user) to be able to see quotes and to trade. From the way they explained it the second user on the account...

    Peils Journal

I learned the hard way as well (luckily without blowing up but that was mainly luck) that I'm just not cut out for discretionary trading. Instead I've moved to system (automated) trading and done fairly well. Consider looking into that instead...the easiest way to start is with...

    Scottrade streaming data off?

IB is much cheaper and allows routing to multiple ECNs or SMART routing. The only way I'd use Scottrade is for mutual funds, but even then they lose a small % of the fund orders since they're manually processed. Move to IB....
