    WFMI - Whole Foods

lol, yeah, they're very good at what they do. They're sort of the Google of natural food stores. I often shop there myself so I'm a customer also. Still, the stock has elements of mania to the way it trades. Nothing wrong with that I guess, but it's bound to pop one of these days.

    WFMI - Whole Foods

What is up with this stock? No debt but low ROE and a forward PE of 50. It's a frigging grocery store and it trades like the tech stocks of days gone by. I bought puts and it went up 10 points in my face before I got out with a more than 50% loss. Anybody think this stock will...

    Fed Speculation 11/1/05

Yep. The yield curve is as flat as Lara Flynn Boyle and getting flatter. After today's rate hike and then another in January we will probably have an inverted yield curve.

    Nice "melt-up" in stocks

When short rates go to 4% tomorrow, the 10 year treasury will be about 4.5% so the yield curve is getting flatter. Oil's only down a couple of bucks, it hasn't made a substantial decline. The GDP was 3.8% - higher than the Fed would like. And the financial press is saying "here comes the...

    Nice "melt-up" in stocks

Is this rally sustainable? Oil's decline seems to have erased any fear of the Fed. Whaddya think?

    idiotic question about options MM

I don't mean to be a wet blanket...:D ...but the practice you describe is illegal and, if you somehow managed to get executed on your buy, you and/or your executing broker would get fined by the exchange and probably get your trade busted.

GDP number - no way to be bullish?

Just to be clear, I wasn't saying "hey, let's predict the GDP and do a trade based on that prediction." I just think it's a worthwhile topic to shoot the breeze about as it is likely to color the situation for existing positions and positions you're thinking about putting on.

cnms2 - Thank you for your thoughtful analysis. I closed that pig of a trade out at $1.55 today. Oh well, on to the next brilliant idea. :p Today, I then: bot 10 Pixar Nov 50 puts @ $2.40 and bot 10 Whole Foods Nov 135 puts @ $6.30 I'm feeling better about these...

GDP number - no way to be bullish?

reno, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts tomorrow. It could be a wild day. I was just thinking that if there are no indictments from the special prosecutor that in itself could cause a relief rally.

GDP number - no way to be bullish?

Yeah, I think it's priced in too. But if tomorrow's number is surprising in any way it could tweak the expectation that's priced in. Having said that, the market's getting slapped around a bit today so maybe today's action will relieve potential selling pressure tomorrow. That and...

GDP number - no way to be bullish?

Okay. Well, the market has a great ability to be perverse and defy logic (or what passes for logic :p) but I don't see how stocks can end higher tomorrow.

GDP number - no way to be bullish?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see how the GDP number tomorrow could be bullish for stocks. If it's higher than expected the market sells off because of expected interest rate hikes. If it's lower than expected, earnings will slow so stocks get sold.

Time frame is 5 - 10 days, stop loss and exit target are dependent on my Triple Secret trading technique which says stay long BSC right now. :) I'd be happy to see 109 - 110. My feeling on buying ATM calls is - whether I buy ATM, ITM or OTM, I'm long calls and if I'm wrong, I'm wrong...
