Daytrading with stochastics

Larry also check out Directional Movement. It can really help to define trends. Stoch's may indicate a bounce while DM will show that the trend is in tact.

    I find it strange.

Maybe the number of full-timers is the same, but they are not doing the volume that they were last year. These past few months my volume is about half of this time last year.

    HELP: Beyond Intraday Trading

I have to agree with those that suggested night classes. I'm nearly done with getting my Finance degree at SFSU and over the past year many of those questions you asked have been answered. I don't think you can just read a book to understand such a complex issue such as Corporate Finance. You...

Anybody know of a firm for scalpers???

Actually "if you pay close attention" that's 300,000 shares per day, which is pretty heavy volume.

    My New Toy (XKey)

I tried that but the problem was the combination of keys that AB requires you to use...such as CTRL F9 just to cancel an order. I prefer one touch keys. It would be fine if it was like Cyber where you could set your own keys, but at AB it's all fixed.

    NQ vs QQQ vs COMP

This really depends on what you are trading. Of course any highly-liquid tech (AMAT) or market stock (GE) will follow the fut's closely. But, if you are trading biotechs or oils then you are better off just watching the price of that sector index than the fut's.

    My New Toy (XKey)

As some of you know I recently switched from Cybercorp to AB Watley. The most difficult transition for me was from the point-and-click style with Cyber to the hotkey style of AB Watley. You can use point-and-click with AB but their layout is not efficient for it. On top of that, their...

    NQ vs QQQ vs COMP

The futures aren't lead by anything. This is what makes trading futures short-term extremely difficult imo.

    NQ vs QQQ vs COMP

Think of it this way... First the S&P futures pit moves. Then the stocks react. Then the comp is recalculated from the values of those stocks. I feel you cannot trade without access to the futures. (You can get the S&P futures free at www.quote.com)

    Online Trading Expo

So, how was it? While trying to sleep in my paper-thin tent thinking that every sound outside was a bear, I thought to myself that I would much rather be at the expo.

    Online Trading Expo

Wish I could attend but I will be in Yosemite this weekend. Hopefully I can go to the next CA [or I would make an exception for Vegas ;) ] expo though to meet some of you guys.

    Pairs Trading (NEW)

It's all about playing the odds that the pair will revert to the mean. Some pairs are better than others, and sometimes the trade just won't work. That is why it's important to find pairs with .95+ correlation numbers. I have no idea if this strategy will work, but these boring summer days...

    Pairs Trading (NEW)

Thanks for the replies. I have made quite a few changes to the spreadsheet and it is working much better. I updated my website for those interested in this stuff. By the way the alert the strategy gave for LLTC/MXIM yielded $1.06 from the close Monday to the close today...RISK FREE TRADING...

    Pairs Trading (NEW)

I am looking to start a discussion on Pairs Trading. On my site I set up pics of the excel page and my charts so you can all see how it is supposed to work. With very limited info available on the subject I'm having to teach my self and would like for anyone interested to give me...

general background for this board ????

24 - Started trading/investing in '96. Interned at MWD in '98 but quickly decided I didn't want to be a salesperson. A guy at MWD introduced me to daytrading, so I gave it a try. Lost money quickly. Got a dayjob at Meridian Investment Management in early '99 which ran a fund of hedge funds...

    Hitman's Correlation Program

I'm not sure exactly how Hitman programmed this. Hopefully he can take a look at it. Also I was wondering if anyone here knows how to integrate this excel sheet into a webpage so there are just two fields (an html page instead of xls). I'm no good with this stuff.

    Hitman's Correlation Program

Hitman just sent me his program to calculate correlations. It works great! Go to the link below and type in any two stocks/indexes. Be patient because it takes about 5-10 seconds for the data to update. http://www.iwinfree.com/correlation.xls NOTE: When you close the page it will ask...

    MGB: Journal

I experimented with pairs trading last month using these correlations. I used the pair LLTC/MXIM (corr 0.9+). What I discovered is that these two stocks often do get out of line often, and usually take 2-4 days to come back together. I set up excel to alert me when the pair deviated more than...
