    van tharp's marble game

"just because he stumbles"?? I love the choice of words. Taking 6 losses in a row on a 60% winning trading style is "stumbling". Blowing up your account (twice!)? That ain't stumbling. "Oh, deary me, I appear to have just lost everything. My, my, that IS a tad inconvenient." I'm glad...

    Is Daytrading a Random Event?

Can anyone see the flawed logic here? A random trade, ie, go either long or short on a coinflip, and your odds are 50/50. Now factor in MMs and specialists and your odds DROP?? That alone kinda beats the idea of randomness. Am I nitpicking? I say not. These aren't just off the cuff...

    van tharp's marble game

That doesn't make sense. Your upside potential is defined by your risk parameters. The more you wanna make on a given trade the more you need to risk. If you want to trade at the optimal, profit maximizing level, for your particular style, "optimal f" will have you routinely have you...

    how many positions long/short

metooxx, would you say that the bigger winners are a result of a favorable gap? and if so, what percentage of the profit on a successful trade do you find a favorable gap accounts for?

    how many positions long/short

Another interesting thread from Gekko! Good stuff! I've thought a lot about doing this type of trading (multiple positions 20-40, few-10days) myself. I haven't come up with a great, or an exact, answer on long/short weighting but I obviously it would be very dangerous to go all long or all...

    Is Daytrading a Random Event?

I'll be there goin' short right along with it! :D What do you mean "what's a trader going to do"? You just get out! Set a mental stop, and just get out. How simple! How many shares do you think we carry? Getting out's never really a problem.

Let's flatten one of 'em and put an end to it already

Go bungrider baby! Extreme situations require extreme measures! I don't know whether we nuke em, the radioactive effects will be the same regardless of who's bombs they are. But bung is right about one thing, the moment this goes nuclear, it's about more than just Pakistan vs India. We are...

    FasterPussycat's Trades & Plays & Ways-volume:June

Stop tootin' your own horns pal, and just bring it to the chatroom or post some credible proof. FAIK you're a damn good trader, but if you want us to think so, prove it and we'll bow down. Otherwise I write you off as an insecure little boy, tellin' daddy what he's gonna do. I'll say it...

    Is Daytrading a Random Event?

LOL. That says it all. This is a guy who couldn't cut the mustard as a market maker (whatsa matter? makin' the spread on RAZF a bit tough eh? :)), and is now here giving daytrading a bash. What's next? Swingtrading is for the dogs?? For an academic rebuttall of efficient market crap...

    van tharp's marble game

The idea of optimal f assumes - I'd say misguidedly - that we all want to maximize our upside. Anyone who trades for a living will tell you that's BS, you first need to take care of the downside. Vince says that regardless of whether we like it or not, the maximum potential of our trading...

    NVDA - short no more!

I hope there's nothing wrong holding NVDA. I'm long of it (from the 32) for the longer term. (Stop at @29.00 FWIW, came perilously close at today's premarket)

    Margin and other great topics

The rule is you can make 3 "daytrades" in a 5 day period. A daytrade is one buy and one sell in the same day. (or one sell and one buy)

    Margin and other great topics

Yes, for pattern day traders, intraday margin is 4:1. (Report is one broker is offering 4:1 for overnight aswell.)
