    90% winners - really?

You're right on both counts. But that wasn't the point of the exercise. If you're someone who's looking for an 85% winning system to sell and you don't care about the realities of slippage, drawdowns, commissions and such, then, heck, most experienced traders can probably create that. Any...

    90% winners - really?

Of course. It's simple - We give you useful stuff for free and, if you ever need something that is our specialty, hopefully you come find us. Isn't that the way most businesses work these days? The question is, did you or someone else find it useful? If we can't point to at least one...

    90% winners - really?

The model I threw together above is on the 24 hour session. It works just as well on the day session only and some days give you nice wins with the gaps. But the model was only to show that you can get a high win rate and a nice $ profit but not be quite as good in the real-world as would be...

Don - are you talking to me or to Random Capital?

    90% winners - really?

So I saw this promotion recently where the promoter was touting a system that had 85% winners or something insane like that and I thought to myself - I can probably write one of those without too much trouble. I mean, if you don't have to limit yourself to real-world realities like execution...

    The Futures Chart Formation Thread

July Natural Gas: I'm posting this chart but, frankly, I have no idea what to do with it at this point in time. I am not good at playing with rising channels like this. What has gotten my attention is the multi-day (5 day) horizontal formation at the top of the current channel. A breakout...

    The Futures Chart Formation Thread

Update on July Wheat: The pullback has formed a triangle on the hourly charts. A break of the upper trendline (above say, 674) on this timeframe would confirm the bullish case. A break of the lower trendline would have me heading for the hills.

    The Futures Chart Formation Thread

New Chart: July Coffee - triangle consolidation after a nice push down. We're still in the triangle and, because the apex is so narrow there is a good chance that any breakout simply ends up morphing into a bigger chart pattern.

    The Futures Chart Formation Thread

Hi RCG: I am not sure if you're addressing your comment to me or to someone else in the thread or to the group in general. But, if to me, I agree with you - heck, I own three different editions. I just find that I need to tweak the ideas for modern markets - hence I insist on 5...

    The Futures Chart Formation Thread

intradaybill: The chart pattern is still valid based on my own criteria. I can understand if you don't like it - especially since the breakout bar is so large which means that, as far as position sizing goes, you'll have to go with a much smaller position (unless you took it at the break of...

    The Futures Chart Formation Thread

lol - I wish I did. If I did, obviously the win rate would be much higher. I think anyone who has been around a while will say that breakouts are unpredictable and, the best ones tend to be in the direction least expected. So, no, there is no commonality - the best I think you can do is to...

    Interesting results in new markets

I agree that strategies should generally work across many markets. They don't have to all be knock-your-socks off profitable but I tend to like to see that a strategy produces positive results in most markets. I do have certain exceptions to the rules though: 1. I don't care if a strategy...

    The Futures Chart Formation Thread

This thread is all about (or mostly about) classical chart formations and the modern day variations. Mostly on the Futures Markets. There are a limited number of Futures markets (at least compared to stocks) so that good chart patterns on daily and higher (and even hourly) charts tend not to...

Another N-days down and then what happens thread

Ok, so we might have SIX consecutive closes down today. Therefore, I re-created yesterday's code to do 6 days down. Only about 9 instances over the last 10 years - about 1 per year until last year which had 3 of them. You can see the year by year results here...

    Help Appreciated

Since I don't know anything about the WTS API personally, there are three places I'd check for developers: 1. RentACoder.com 2. ELANCE.com 3. ODESK.com I've had good luck with the first two for stuff I needed coded. You're liable to find talent there is a bit cheaper since many folks...

hmmm...that's a prop trading house. They would be the first people I'd ask for a list of developers that know their API - I assume that they have one?

    Help Appreciated

I assume you have an algorithm of some kind? Do you care to share your broker name and the frequency at which the algorithm will trade? That will help us narrow the list for you. HFT stuff has a much smaller pool of possible developers than, say, an algorithm that trades just a few times per...

    Help Appreciated

Hmmm...is there something in particular you're looking for besides coding and maintaining and algorithm? It seems to me that just about any developer familiar with your broker's api can probably do this....
