Building a Track Record to Eventually Manage OPM

When I say family - I mean my parents. Others have also offered but I probably won't accept their money. With parents money, I can charge a 20% incentive fee (no management fee). And I'll eventually get 50% of the rest as an inheritance. That's a pretty good incentive fee. All their...

Building a Track Record to Eventually Manage OPM

I'm again not happy with my discipline so I'm taking tomorrow off. I'm taking days off until I reach 100% discipline because I'm not trading OPM without 100% discipline. I put on a swing trade today. Short 1 YM (September contract) at 8344 05/01/09 694.75 05/02/09 0 05/05/09 -123.48

Building a Track Record to Eventually Manage OPM

I'm not happy with my discipline on Friday so I am not trading or monitoring the markets today. I day trade mostly futures but some stocks as well. I have a very small swing trade account too which I use for swing trades. So far: 5/1: +600 5/2: 0

Building a Track Record to Eventually Manage OPM

I want to start building a track record so I can eventually manage OPM. I only want to manage money for my family. They have offered 500k for a long while and I kept saying no because I knew I wasn't ready. I still feel I'm not ready for it but I probably will by by the end of this year...

    Wash Sale Nightmare

How does a retail stock trader avoid the situation mentioned above without m2m election? I trade mostly futures. I've started trading some stocks. I'm not convinced m2m is the way to go because there are disadvantages - esp. for futures/forex traders.

Daytrading leads to Inevitable Failure? Is Swing Trading the only Viable Path?

That's right no retail trader has a real risk management (RM) plan unless: 1 He has RM built into his trading platform which enforces risk limits. The platform also can't allow the trader to increase risk limits in the heat of the moment, there has to be a cooling off period before increases...

    Major IB TWS Bug...

What happened to the FutureTrade integration that was supposed to happen 1 year ago? How old is TWS? Probably 15 years yet it still can't accurately display simple things like P/L and trades accurately. And charts still don't work properly. If it wasn't for ButtonTrader and Quotetracker...

Daytrading leads to Inevitable Failure? Is Swing Trading the only Viable Path?

OP is correct. And the reason why is that not a single retail trader has a risk management plan. But that doesn't stop retail traders from fooling themselves into thinking that they have a legit risk management plan because they limit position size, and they use stops, etc. But this "plan"...

    CME e-micro futures

Looks like IB isn't going to charge less to trade this contract. CME fee maybe 1/10th but IB's commissions certainly aren't going to be 1/10th. I hope IB charges proportionately less in terms of commissions and margin. The symbols are: M6E - Euro M6C - Canadian Dollar M6J - JPY M6S...

    IB Front Ends

Your options (as far as I'm aware) are: ButtonTrader, Quotetracker, and Ninjatrader. I use Buttontrader for order entry - because its the only trading system that allows you to manage risk, which is the most important thing for a trader. It also has the most intuitive order...

Biggest S&P or Dow % gains of all time

Thanks limesinferior, I had always assumed that the the biggest down days were much larger in % terms than the biggest up days. It turns out the that it was the up days that posted the bigger % moves.
