    IB saving settings

I haven't seen this problem though I've occassionally had mishaps (not due to my doing anything). Restoring settings from tws.xml is what I usually do. That seems to get auto-saved at least once per session so you never end up too far behind.

    Password security for files

My opinion: The best whole disk solution is PGP Whole Disk Encryption. The best virtual disk solution is TrueCrypt. PGP also has virtual disks but I find truecrypt lighter weight (you can bring a small program to mount the virtual disk on a PC w/o TrueCrypt installed, for example --...

    New TWS lost settings?

No, but you can just restore them from an older tws.xml file...

    IB saving settings

From the posts it seems like the way to make store settings on server work is to start from a clean config. Seems like those of us who have troubles are bec we started from an existing config. Unfortunately, that's a bit big of an investment which I will postpone for a later date.

    wtf with IB data?

I did see a lot of crossed quotes on GMS stocks as well. I think it was the directedge feed (not 100% sure, but I ended up blowing out all the destinations and visually filtering out the bad quote).

    IB saving settings

I too have never gotten Store Settings on Server to do what I want! I have a home PC and an office PC. Though I set Store Settings on Server, when I exit and go to the other PC, changes I've made in terms of market data lines, etc., never seem to load onto the other PC! But save settings on...

Trading Technologies (TT) IPO or Acquisition

I've previously commented on the outcome of the Markman phase this past spring on this thread. http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=36783&perpage=6&pagenumber=22 In my opinion, TT is hosed w.r.t. many defendants in the suits consolidated under that Markman decision...

    IB Statements - Cannot Download

I think I've seen this problem recently with IE7 but not with Firefox. I suspect some type of tighter security setting in IE7.... In the past, the download warning would bust things, so I added IB to my Trusted Zone and fixed that, but I am guessing something relating to the new stmt...

    IB raising intraday margin

Kinda hard to close a position when a trading limit or a NYSE trading halt is hit.... We'd move in a flash to a broker who can do that.

    IB raising intraday margin

Uncle Ben's gotta love that the market is finally withdrawing liquidity and doing his job for him......

    IB's new statement format

I 2nd the request for a PDF statement from the perspective of something that prints out "nicely" with decent pagination (and not entire pages w/ nothing but a small legend box on them).

    Red Sky acquired by ITG

I recall the ITG person saying something about it during their session at June's Sandler O'Neil brokerage conf, but don't recall what he said. You may want to go look up the archived webcast for his session.

    Odd-Lot orders NOT wanted!!

Actually I don't recall NASDAQ having similar restrictions.

    Odd-Lot orders NOT wanted!!

The comment on Arca is true if you take liquidity. The other reason why odd lots are frowned upon is that they don't print on the exchanges if I recall.

    Odd-Lot orders NOT wanted!!

<shrug> I don't know what to say. If you research far back enough you can probably find the original rationale statement, as well as public input submitted during the comment period, when the rules were first adopted. I am not familiar with this level of detail. Anyway, the rules don't...

    Odd-Lot orders NOT wanted!!

Oh this is not a new rule, but surveillance systems have steadily improved (though sneakier circumventions have also steadily been developed). e.g. NYSE Regulation memo 04-14 from 2004 was one of the earlier reminders of the rule...

    Odd-Lot orders NOT wanted!!

This is actually an exchange regulation to prevent people from certain practices. Surveillance by broker is required by the regulation. Better to get a note from your broker than from the exchange, else I'd say you should probably be calling your securities lawyer! See e.g., the most NYSE...

IB Good After Time (GAT) Order

If you are using the API for your automated strategy, can't you have that close out the positions???

IB - How to see the crack spread?

You are right. My mistake. I thought there was a way with Generic but apparently not.

IB Good After Time (GAT) Order

Orders sit at IB's servers. I think there is a way to create a triggered order at a certain time to do close but haven't done that myself.
