ECN's have quietly captured more than half the trading volume of LISTED stocks.

Yes -- but sometimes they collect even more from various payment for order flow guys.... then where do those guys route (shrug).

Wow, your words really have impact as I see the Arca rebates are being raised....!

For crying out loud IB ... please release TWS 876

So, to wrap up this thread..... TWS 877.3 still had the crash on order entry after pinkout issue for me. BUT, this morning there appears to be an 877.4, and I believe 877.4 does finally fix the problem.

For crying out loud IB ... please release TWS 876

Hmm. I don't know if people want me to give the full details, but it is relatively easy to convert network-launched java code to be loaded locally from the file system. I don't know that loading locally from filesystem vs loading from network is such a big improvement except that you can...

For crying out loud IB ... please release TWS 876

OK guys at IB! I regenerated a crash report circa 8:48PM EDT by restoring my c:\Jts directory from last night, starting 872.2, doing a pink-out/reconnect, and then clicking on the ask field. If you go check your crash logs you should see it.

For crying out loud IB ... please release TWS 876

There should be 2 reports. One on 877.1 and one on 877.2 (bec it crashed twice). Actually I just logged in with 877.2, did a ctrl-alt-R (easier than pulling the network cable) -- and am unable to enter orders. Namely clicking on the bid/ask does nothing, nor does right-click > trade >...

IB: NVDA options not working in TWS?

Ah, I suspected this had something to do with it. I thought in the past (with MO post-KFT spin off), it still showed under MO but maybe that worked like this too and my memory is foggy. Anyway, I'll close out the ticket I had opened on the topic tomorrow when I next log onto TWS. Thx.

For crying out loud IB ... please release TWS 876

Strangely enough, I got crashing problems on order entry for the first time with 877.2. I never had a problem in 877.1. (And I clicked the send report button). Actually upon further experimentation, it looks like if I manufacture a pink out (by pulling the network cable) and it reconnects...

I think the rise of BATS is the incredible story -- no one thought there was room for a new player and that it'd be consolidation only..... then came BATS.

IB: NVDA options not working in TWS?

Anyone else having trouble with NVDA options in TWS this morning? When I logged in, I get an alert "No option for underlying: NVDA." Cannot bring up an Options Trader window on it. Existing NVDA options in my portfolio are showing with the options symbol and not in underlying mode.

    IB Margin requirements

Fair is fair. It's a fair gripe, and we should accept that. It's also a fair position on IB's part -- the risk is of being less competitive and losing some customers. However, I will nitpick the statement that it "doubles the cost of doing business." It doubles the capital required to...

    3 month LIBOR

I guess that's exactly what I'm asking -- is there no easy way to get a "spot" 3 month LIBOR.... I'm hearing no, which is what I feared.

    3 month LIBOR

To clarify, the reason I don't like the Eurodollar futures is that they are based on future expectations -- e.g., with the Oct contract, I'm trading what I expect the rate to be in Oct. Whereas what I'm really looking for is to lock in the premium today vs. say Treasuries. Is there a good...

    3 month LIBOR

Is there a good instrument for locking in the presently high 3 month LIBOR rate? There are 1 month futures & futures options on the CME, but what about 3 month? Are Eurodollar futures the answer? Thx.

IB multiple user names.. 1 account

I think this thread is talking about 2 user names for the same underlying account. I have that set up as a backup in the event of technical difficulties (Secure Computing token failure, etc). Two separate accounts are a different matter.

    Priority of limit orders

First we need the limit prices. Also, the exchanges for each order. Each exchange has its own rules. And even then, there is still a bit of uncertainty due to the Reg NMS and exceptions to protected quotes (e.g., if an exchange isn't responding promptly). If there is any...

IB - Why Not a USB Security Device

This does not prevent password compromise attacks. Actually it's even worse in that it opens you up to a denial of service attack. I can write a script to keep trying your user name and you will never get the chance to enter your password bec my script will beat you to it every 30 seconds...

IB - Why Not a USB Security Device

That we should buy shares in Secure Computing? :-)

IB - Why Not a USB Security Device

I agree completely. The only acceptably secure USB devices would require an additional confirming input on each authentication request (either PIN or biometrics) -- those tend to be much costlier.
