    Stupid question?

I get gift fills fairly regularly on Arca, but always for some small # of shares (< 20). Never quite understood how they occur. Suspect some kind of sweep but I thought Arca had a 100 share minimum. Because of certain consistencies (like the exact same # of shares a few times within a few...

someone at IB needs thier ass kicked

I'll second the "voice of reason" statement here, but, would add, as an admitted fan of IB, that: Clearly limitations in either software or process were uncovered with IB's handling this incident. My hope is that improvements will be made and it would be confidence building to learn of them...

someone at IB needs thier ass kicked

It does seem that the situation was incorrectly handled as trading (and quotes) should've been allowed at other venues for Amex issues. Hopefully someone can clarify what remedial actions will be implemented going forward.

    Futures expiration and IB

Isn't the settlement value of the cash-settled contracts is calculated by the exchanges based on the relevant reporting from the index providers, etc.? i.e., no broker gets to arbitrarily set this.... It's not the broker who gets the index value. It's the exchange who gets it and delivers the...

    IB main website down?

Is anyone else having trouble connecting to the main US IB web site today? (I don't mean logging in or anything on Saturday, but just going to the main web site www.interactivebrokers.com) Just trying to rule out ISP vs IB.

    IB: Position in Order Book

I would suspect not as most exchanges do not make this info available. I don't know of one that does make it available. There can also be hidden orders, reserve orders, etc. in the book. And if it's equities, you also need to consider other books for Reg NMS trade through protection.

    Crazy IB Options Quotes

Hooray. Saw the problem for the first time today.... The pennies explains it as I usu dabble in smaller stocks except for a special situation today. Glad that a fix is underway.

ARCA & INET partial/odd lot fills.

Correct that -- Arca supports AON only on options and not equities. My memory was fogged as recently I've been curious about options on Arca and that was the most recent info in my mind.

ARCA & INET partial/odd lot fills.

Hmm. I personally rarely use AON but I thought Arca supports AON natively so that your order will be in the book with appropriate priority? I don't know INET as thoroughly. Still doesn't give me any clarity on 6 share fills or 17 share fills and the like. Even if someone did a round lot...

Can a private trader become an Introducing Broker?

Sure, just register with your favorite SRO and all the jazz that comes with that (regular examinations, etc). But you're taking on unlimited liability for regulatory fines, etc. Why would you want to do that?

ARCA & INET partial/odd lot fills.

I get small fills on Arca all the time. I'm a bit curious as to how they happen bec I thought Arca required a round lot or PRL for all orders but yet I get fills < 100 shares and given how far out of the inside my standing limit orders on these occassions are, I don't think someone else got a...

IB Trouble Tickets - your experience?

Over past two months, from best to worst: Trade related issues (routing problems primarily) -- 4 data points -- 1 to 3 hr. Seems that once it says LVL1, it gets addressed. Of the 4 data points, only 1 response proved incorrect and had to go through another turn, with the combined time for...

    NFA Complaint with IB

I believe the record keeping charge was that at one point, the monthly statements did not include open positions P&L, a break down of exchange & NFA fees and a separate reporting of equity & cash balances. There may have been other points, as it's been a while since I read the complaint &...

    IB vs. Oanda

At IB, it depends on the size of the position. See this page: http://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/accounts/fees/interest.php?ib_entity=llc Take the interest earned on the long balances less interest charged on short balances.

    IB vs. Oanda

I don't know if the two should be compared on these points without first considering the bigger difference: Oanda is a dealing desk model whereas IB is an ECN model. That is a much more important decision to make before choosing a broker w/in the model you select.
