Through a broker to day trade stocks or ETF's you need to have 25,000 in capital so, yes.

This can be done, the prints show up on my bloomberg after hours as an average price trade and have been done over the course of the day.

I'm on Central time - I would take a breakout signal any time from 12:30 to 2:00.

I've been doing pretty good this year fading the ER2 in the morning and trading breakouts in the afternoon. The breakout system isn't based on the morning range though, but I may test that now that you've mentioned it.

I don't trade pairs anymore. But when I did, it was based on their correlation over the past 5-7 years on a weekly basis and the fundamentals that were behind them getting out of line. I can't help you with the margin cost, etc, that was handled by other people at the firm I worked for.

My personal experience was it was very difficult to trade them over the short term for a consistent profit. Putting on pairs for moves over the course of 2 - 3 months is where I found more success. I know that's more of investing that trading to most people on this site.
