TWS Problems Solved by Clean Install

Another strange way to clear out existing TWS problems -especially slow relogging and disappearing quotes- is the following: 1. While TWS is working properly, disconnect your internet connection 2. TWS goes pink - NOW CLOSE IT 3. Restore your internet connection, start TWS - my problems...

Looking for a decent charting software

Instead, it would be good to note here that there are a ton of programs out there which do exactly the same , e.g. QuoteElf. I think many are cheaper, since you have to pay only once. Sorry swalex, I had to ... ! :)

When do we switch to June contract?

I think this is funny, there seems to be no definite rollover-date for currency futures. FX futures are no old-fashioned, big-player dominated game, that's the reason ? Currently, liquidity is pretty split between Mar/Jun (38k / 13k) Does anyone have a clue when most players switch FX...

    IB adds real time charts

FX, you can decompress the .jar with winzip. In fact, .jar is only a substitute for .zip The slow startup process is due to the VM nature, the decompress is done in native machine code and therefore it is fast. If you experience very slow startup, it may be due to slow TWS version...

    IB adds real time charts

1a. The speed depends on how fast IB's servers respond to your requests. I think IB throttles connection speeds on their servers. 1b. Yes. But automatic garbage collection does not need to be 100% effective, if you allocate memory dynamically and do not abandon it until program termination...

    IB adds real time charts

    1. Not Java's fault, not IB's fault. The function is accessing IB's database via internet, which causes slowness. 2. Actually true, but only light slowdowns. 3. Did not happen to me. However, I see some more serious issues: 1. Memory usage - I bet there are some memory leaks in TWS...

    IB adds real time charts

Linux Kernel -> in C Windows 2000 system -> large % in C (core), rest C++ X-Window system -> C MatLab -> C The programs stated above are some of todays better (well, I would be ready to negotiate about the win kernel) & more complex software applications. The list could be easily...

    IB adds real time charts

Hello, I just want to state this: 1. I consider myself a professional developer (10 year experience) 2. Personally, I would not a) start a Java-based project b) get involved into Java based development for a number of reasons, the 2 most important are a) "overkill - objectivity" is...

    IB adds real time charts

Hello IBSoft, do you plan offering historical (tick?) data via IB TWS API ? As given currently, displaying data inside TWS is nice, but gives no ability to work, backtest or build indicators with this data. No one would require IB to build a fully featured charting package - but if IB...

What a range on the ES!!!

the record is >1M. The huge volume is a great percentage due to the rolling occurring in the big Spooz right now which also reflects into the EMinis front mo.

    Eurex Comes to US Markets

Uhhmmmm... I think that is not correct. Most participants should be able to trade EurexUS, from the technical view as well as legal issues.

    Bloomberg API

BB has several API types. They are listed at their website. However, they do not mention costs and by the information given it is difficult to determine which one I would need. I am generally pleased with pure TCP/IP solutions, but ActiveX or COM would also be ok.

    What happened to ES liquidity

Yes, I always mentioned this. Many traders moved away from the ES into the ER2, the YM and even the EMD. The reason is the difficulty of getting filled when posting inside the ES. However, that does not mean ES's minimum price variation has to be reduced !

    Bloomberg API

Hello, is there any user of the Bloomberg API around ? I think before I ask the BB reps I just ask here... I need an internet based solution for quotes, US + american Futures and Equity Cash Markets, with a pro-level API for quotes and time&sales. Has anyone an idea what this costs for...

    High Volume Futures Traders

Transact Futures, I like to hear you offer a new service. Your website does not state some important information: Can you please specifiy: - Which exchanges are supported ? - Can you give a rough commission estimate for Eurex products, e.g. FGBL ? - Do you offer multicurrency...

Which is honest, high quality FX Broker/Platform

I checked deeply with hotspotFX now. I am a little bit disappointed. The reason is, that there is still a 3pip spread (EUR), very rarely less, on top of the commissions. The chance of getting hit when posting inside bids/offers is rather low. They should urgently get more liq...

    IB Data ...

BH, what is extremely fast for you ? I am extremely curious now, since my IB quotes seem like always, about 3 updates per second per data field. Do you feel you receive all ticks in the ES ?
