Should I change from IB to Efficient Executions?

I made the switch from IB to Efficient Executions and am very happy. I am saving about $100k a year in commissions from Efficient Executions compared to IB. I don't think Sterling has a DOM, but you would use a market maker box and Level 2 if you were trading equities? Doesn't Trading...

    IB's commissions

Sorry I can't answer that for you. I no longer have an account at IB. With them you never know what the hell is going on. Where I have my account now I get a breakdown by Symbol then Fill and for each Fill I get a breakdown of the amount of shares the commish, Exchange/ECN Fee, and SEC fee.

    IB's commissions

    No it means if you trade 3 million share in the month this is how your commission is broken down: 300,000 shares @.0035 = $1,050 2,700,000 shares @ .002 = $5,400 ------------- --------------------- 3,000,000 shares @@@ = $6,450...

    IB's commissions

If you are doing the kind of trading you describe through Etrade you are probably losing 5-10 cents on every execution. That adds up to a lot of money very quickly. For that type of trading you definitely need to be using direct access. I don't use IB anymore, I now use Efficient Executions...

Trading "retail" at a prop firm?

Oh come on, Anvil is no more reliable than Sterling, Lightspeed or Laser. In terms of execution and quote speeds all four of these softwares are on the same level. Only some have more or different bells and whistles and the graphics colors vary from one to the other. It is not worth paying...

Trading "retail" at a prop firm?

I am not looking to get into an argument about it. But let me ask, what execution softaware do you use?

Best place to build a retirement home.

If you can take the heat Florida is dirt cheap right now and could be a good long term investment. But otherwise I have to agree with others that Carolinas seem to be what you are looking for. Wilmington would be great but I am not sure how cheap it is there. I lived in Greensboro and it was...

Trading "retail" at a prop firm?

As I said earlier if you don't need to trade from the firms office and can trade from home or get your own office you can get much cheaper rates from Efficient Executions. 1 million shares a month/ 50k shares a day Lightspeed/other firm = .005 per share = $5,000 in commissions per month...

Trading "retail" at a prop firm?

But how many shares do you trade a month? Those rates seem high.

Trading "retail" at a prop firm?

TraderD72, Who quoted you .006 per share at Lightspeed? Their website says .00395 per share. How many shares a month do you trade? If you are trading less than 100k shares a month then maybe Lightspeed charges more for those accounts but I don't think that is the case.

    Question to WTS traders.

Is WTS a BD now? If so what is the name? Unless they are a BD and require their traders to be licensed there is no reason for them to hold your deposit for 12 months? A retail prop firm that holds deposits for 12 months makes me think they are having money problems?

Trading "retail" at a prop firm?

You should be able to easily find and office to trade in through Assent or Lightspeed. But Lightspeed's rates are .00395 per share and Assent's rates are similar if you trade out of an office. And you are less likely to negotiate a lower rate with them if you are trading at their office rather...

    T3 Capital

I was curious and went to the website to check out the T3 Live for a friend who is struggling. The links on their website for the T3 live don't work? I guess the service can't be that good.

holding DDM for the long haul

I have been telling friends and family since October to buy DDM anywhere below $30. Some listened and bought it a little below $30 and sold it a week or two later for a more than 30% return. But you shouldn't buy it on margin because Dow will probably touch 7K in the next 6 months and you...

I apologize if my post misled you, Echo does not provide any training as far as I am aware of. I only mentioned them because their commission and Interest Rates/Haircut are cheaper than Bright's. But if you want training then you have to pay and go to Bright's Boot Camp.

Trading "retail" at a prop firm?

If you want training from Bright you have to pay several thousand dollars for their training boot camp. Don is a saleman that will spin anything to make it sound like Bright is the best in the world and it always smells like roses there. However, his brother Bob is a great trader and Bright...

Trading "retail" at a prop firm?

I switched my retail account to Efficient Executions. They aren't a prop firm but a BD. They have the lowest commissions I could find. Their commissions are tierred but if you do the math: 1,000,000 = .0021 per share 2,000,000 = .00155 per share 4,000,000 = .001275 per share They...
