    HFT/Algo end in sight?

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-investor/investment-ideas/streetwise/canada-most-worried-about-high-frequency-trading/article2224446/ "It's the No. 1 concern among investors around the world but it's highest in Canada," Yet again in the news for all the wrong reasons.

    Eurex Vols

Although Friday was a holiday Eurex Fixed Income volumes were abysmal. Bobl and Schatz were both well below 300,000 contracts. Bunds only had a 151 tick range so 550,000 lots is well below expectations. So who are the "liquidity providers" providing liquidity to?

    Eurex Vols

Eurex fixed income looks like it's getting worse,if that was possible. Bunds very disappointing,Bobl and Schatz frankly are getting to pretty desperate levels. On the Eurex website they appear to be advertising for even more mm's for the equity index products, that's very bad news for stoxx...

    HFT/Algo end in sight?

Yeah that's right. The IB guy who happens to be a multi billionaire who foresaw electronic trading and managed to build a giant, maybe the biggest retail firm in the business is wrong. FYI - HFT is on it's way out, maybe not in the next few months but that situation has peaked, for...

    Eurex Vols

Are you nuts? Did you miss the G20 meeting and the Greek will they won't they debacle? Wasn't exactly a usual ECB day was it. Then an unexpected rate cut and a total of 190 tick range and I think it just managed 1m lots. 5-6 years ago with that range, with that amount of news bunds...

    Eurex Vols

Eurex volumes are getting worse by the day FBGL,FGBM,FGBS are all doing nothing compared to what they should be doing given the volatile climate we are in now. At the time of writing FGBL has been open for 3.5 hours has 148 tick range and has done an embarrassing 344,000 contracts. I...

    Big Stop Last Night

Can anyone confirm that a big stop went off last night in bunds. According to my CQG the stop happened in the last 10 mins of trading 7.50-8.00pm London time and was about 109 ticks to the downside. Thanks

    HFT/Algo end in sight?

My take was that it would stop or limit spoofing and filling the order book with orders that are never intended to be filled,I think these orders are generated by algos. If there are position limits then we must assume that some sort of fine or penalty will be imposed should they be broken...

http://www.marketwatch.com/story/divided-cftc-oks-commodity-trading-caps-2011-10-18-144580 The penultimate paragraph is the most interesting. Maybe crude might be worth trading until they get the same rules introduced across the board.

London House Prices Surge Most in Two Years

People who have plenty of bad things to say about London either can't afford to live there or are simply jealous. There's the same reason why some things are more expensive than others and that's because they're better, doesn't matter if its cars, wine, property or anything else the higher the...

    HFT/Algo end in sight?

Just to be clear - The kind of HFT/Algo I'm referring to are the kind who use the strategies that are soon to be outlawed.Personally I think once this segment has been removed then the market will change for sure most likely for the better. I have nothing against people who use automated...
