    Quadriga Superfund - Managed Futures

Funny that you should mention both the Man AHL fund and the Winton fund in the same post, Makloda. Today they both got mentioned in the same Bloomberg article: <a href="http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=az_CxbjDvVIw&refer=home">Man Group, Winton Hedge Funds Bruised by Market...

Try Man Financial. You can use their LindFinancial API without having any software running. I, too, wonder what is the problem with having TWS running? It consumes minimal resources. Aaron Schindler Schindler Trading

    Black Monday

I'm more surprised by the Treasury rally than the equity swoon. Short treasuries I can understand, but long treasuries? At 4.5% with inflation just shy of 3% and the dollar in a down trend?? Two years are so much the better investment. I agree, short bonds offers better odds.

    Setting up a CPO

While we get lots of non-US investors, and Australia seems like a popular origin, more than half of our investors are American, so I tend to think advertising in the US would have the best success.

    Setting up a CPO

Yes, we could advertise in newspapers and magazines. Do you (and others) think it is a good idea? Where would I start? Some sort of investing magazine or wealth newsletter? I've tried Google adwords targetting "managed futures" and "hedge fund" and it didn't do much. If you were looking...

Total of how many regietered CTA?

Two spelling mistakes and a grammar error in a simple sentence and a misspelling in the title of this thread. To give a good impression, please be sure to put more care into your client communications when you start your CTA firm, Dabao. Schindler Trading is a sole proprietorship. So, yes...

Total of how many regietered CTA?

It doesn't sound like you know what Associated Members are. Associated Members are _people_ associated with NFA members, usually companies. Associated Members are mostly employees or independent contractors. For example, Schindler Trading is a registered CTA and CPO and member of the NFA and...

    Setting up a CPO

Oh, and speaking of CTA's being tied to the Introducing Brokers bringing them clients and the high commission rates of those brokers... At least those CTA's have someone bringing them business. Without brokers bringing us business, Schindler Trading has no sales channel. That's a...

    Setting up a CPO

Each firm has its strengths and weaknesses, but of prime importance is making money. With equivalent access to the same exchanges at a lower commission rate, we're going to make more money at Man. This, by the way, is an advantage of a CPO vs. CTA. Schindler Trading has to move two accounts...

    Setting up a CPO

Yes, Interactive Brokers (IB) has excellent rates. But at 50k round trips per year, Schindler Trading does enough futures volume that we were able to negotiate an even better rate through Man Financial. We are in the advanced stages of testing our automated trading strategies at Man. For a...

    Congrats to Schindler!

You're not just asking if it is possible, you're asking if it is legal. And I'm uncomfortable offering legal advice because I'm not a securities attorney. If I did answer, I might not know what I am talking about and you might rely on that possibly incorrect information and then you might get...

    Setting up a CPO

I've got just the opposite as Longview. He has one investor in the pool and everyone else has a managed account and I've got one managed account and everyone else is in the pool. I find it easier to trade a single account (well, two, actually) than to mess with having to check on allocations...

Series 3 Exam (Natl Commodity Futures Exam)

Yes, after two years of not working for a broker/dealer your Series 7 expires. I took and passed the Series 7 in preparation for a summer job during college as a broker. It would have involved a lot of cold calling that didn't sound so pleasant, so as summer approached I took a job with the...

    Congrats to Schindler!

Thanks, Formika! And good trading to you in March, also. Virgin, Schindler Trading can advertise because we are a registered CTA (commodity trading advisor). The "registered" part is what makes it okay to advertise, or in the words of the NFA (National Futures Association) regulations "hold...

When is recession and correction coming?

Returns for the stock market are driven by dividends plus growth in earnings plus inflation plus changes in the average P/E ratio. The dividend yield is a little under 2%. Real growth in earnings can't exceed growth in real GDP over long periods, and real GDP growth has averaged about 3%...
