    Systematic Performance Stats

Over the past 3 months, our worst drawdown has been $1519 on a single NQ contract basis. That's the largest dip below the starting equity at March 20th or any subsequent new equity peak. Is this a useful number? In a different 3 month period our worst drawdown might be much higher or lower.

    Systematic Performance Stats

Thanks AAAintheBeltway. I think it is possible to make money in the markets at all different time frames -- holding periods of anywhere from minutes to years. Schindler Trading's strategies typically have a holding period of 1 to 3 days. We take a 100% systematic approach. We backtest...

    Systematic Performance Stats

Why would you think no one has any performance to brag about? In the futures markets somebody is always making money -- there are just as many shorts as longs. The Schindler Fund had 44 trades from March 20th to June 20th in the NQ's. 59% were profitable and we netted $1910 on a one...

    Closed-End Funds?

I think a private investment limited partnership or "hedge fund" is what you are looking for. You can have a maximum of 35 nonaccredited investors. As a hedge fund you would be excluded from the definition of an "investment company" under the Investment Company Act. You definitely want to be...

What annual percentage returns do the best traders make?

Good job, Canadian_dude. Nice trading! Please post an update in a month. You can get a look at the performance of the top traders each month in Futures magazine. In the "Managed Money Review" column the monthly returns for the top CTA's and public funds are given. For example, in the...

estimated tax - is it worth it?

How are estimated taxes a pain? All you do is write a check four times a year and send it off in an envelope. If you are a profitable trader, paying estimated taxes is going to save you a bundle. If you are a trader and don't know what your ultimate taxes will be, just pay in enough to...

    new margin for e-mini Nasdaq

Errr... I was looking at the maintenance margin. Using the initial margin you'll only be able to trade 3 contracts with your $10k account. Yes, mom, I really can divide! Aaron

    new margin for e-mini Nasdaq

Starting Friday, May 3rd, the new exchange minimum margin for the e-mini Nasdaq will be $3000 initial and $2400 maintenance. I don't see the e-mini S&P listed, so its margin must be staying the same. You can see this margin change as well as several others for CME contracts on the CME...

QQQ: Do you think its better to just hit the bid/ask rather than wait?

That might be your philosophy, Don, ("always initiate") but limit orders do have their place. In fact, you use them yourself in your open only orders. You're not initiating there -- you're letting the market come to you if it want's your liquidity.
