    specialists cant make money

The David Finnerty (Fleet specialist) front running scandal was in April. So, maybe the specialists have been observing the negative obligation for the last quarter out of fear of being in the spotlight. What they are finding is if they are not allowed to cheat - then they can't make a lot...

    ES volume > 1M

I wonder how much volume it would take to justify a .10 tick size. 2 million.....2 billion....... You won't kill the floor until the tick size is reduced.

this is driving me nuts! ES ES ES

That .25 spread is criminal. Should be .10 increment in ES. I think they keep it wide so they can give CEO Jim McNulty his multi-million dollar Grasso-like payout. I wonder if he owns a $6000 shower curtain like the Tyco guy.

Can a System be reverse engineered just from viewing daily trades/account statements?

I have heard of a commodity broker who, in the phone-age (e.g. before electronic trading) - would piggy back off trades made by a big customer who had a hot hand. Supposedly he traded other customer accounts (who paid high commissions) and not his own account, which he felt made it o.k. I...

Can a System be reverse engineered just from viewing daily trades/account statements?

I have not tried it myself. I don't see why it would not work - as long as you don't leave the positions open too long and get a margin call in the losing account. What are your thoughts? Do you see a problem with this?

Can a System be reverse engineered just from viewing daily trades/account statements?

If you are really worried, open two accounts with separate brokers. Every now and then - open your trade with one broker and close it out in the other brokerage account. YOU personally will be net flat, but the two accounts will still have live trades in them. Then at your convenience...

How high can the S&P go?

For a normal person, I would not say anything because we are all just "guessing" at the future. My prediction back in July was "1050-ish" for a medium term top. But, for people who shout from the roof tops about how right they are and how they are the "greatest of all time", I exact a higher...

How high can the S&P go?

This is about Romeo's market calls (more so about his insufferable, inflated, needy, ego). All I am saying is that if he tries to pull another fast one on this forum - I will be all over Romeo like a bum on a baloney sandwich! :D :D :D

How high can the S&P go?

 Maybe under T-Rex's sliding scale logic that makes sense. But some of us will not be told that day is night. I will be watching Romeo like a hawk! Be afraid, be very afraid! :D

How high can the S&P go?

It looks like the SPX might work its way down to its 200 day EMA which is also the 40 EMA on the weekly. We are due for a mid point consolidation here and then a measured move down to the 200 MA. This of course is in a perfect world. Then the S&P should work its way up but not exceed...

How high can the S&P go?

Juliet http://www.romeoandjuliet.com/players/ , when you are wrong you have the thread closed like you did when you were wrong predicting the top at 1032. That of course prevents 100 pages of bashing. LOL. http://elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21127&perpage=6&pagenumber=26

    SpecialistMan - by John Bogle

If there was ever a time to have changes made at the NYSE - now is the time. The protection for the specialists, Dick Grasso, has been eliminated. The NYSE board, which is made up of prominent people who thought they were taking a prestigious position, have been made fools of and have had...

So when will this market actually get busy

When volatility/range is lower you can increase your size. This can be an advantage for a Prop trader who has access to greater leverage.

Is the specialist system on its way out?

The specialist union will fight it. But like all featherbedding and shakedowns - people eventually get wise/tired of it and demand change. Heck, if New York City could break the garbage hauling monopoly from the mob related firms - investors can loosen the greedy grip of the specialists...

    SpecialistMan - by John Bogle

Dick Grasso's failure was that he did not have a mini-me or another Dick Grasso to look after his own security. While a bodyguard like Grasso can perform brilliantly running interference/providing security for NYSE specialists, he is often blind to his own needs. This was a train wreck...

IB: When do Day orders get cancelled?

I wonder if one type of stop has priority over another i.e. the day stop vs. the GTC stop as far as first to fill on Globex.
