    PIMCO on Floor Vs. Screen

Have you ever watched the tape for the e-mini s&p? There are ones and twos, but also 10’s, 50’s, 100’s + being traded. I think a lot of the volume is coming from the plethora of small to medium sized hedge funds. The pit is losing its business. If not for the reverse arbitrage from...

    PIMCO on Floor Vs. Screen

We may be able to get the CFTC to open up the monopoly on those products if we can convince them that the pit is colluding to keep spreads wider than is justified.

    eminis vs. S & P

Baloney! The Emini S&P lead the pit and has taken over the role of price discovery. Just look at a one minute chart and you can see who leads who. The pit traders watch the Emini for direction.

    PIMCO on Floor Vs. Screen

LOL America? Loyalty? LOL The exchanges cannot expect patriotism and loyalty when they have been screwing off floor American traders for years. I am a loyal American and I hope Eurex kicks ass!

    Boycott the NYSE !!

The NYSE is a regulated business. The SEC can step in and make them do things if they are not serving the public good (or something like that) - just like they stepped in and told the Nasdaq to open up in the 1980's after they were caught fixing the spread on liquid stocks at artificially wide...

    Boycott the NYSE !!

If decimalization were the problem then you would have to boycott all stocks, not just NYSE. The real problem is the closed and uncompetitive nature of the NYSE specialist system. It needs to be opened up like the Nasdaq with instantaneous fills to eliminate specialist shenanigans and...

    Iraq is whispering something

This thread should probably be moved to chit-chat. I believe in the spirit of the 2nd Amendment which, IMHO is about giving US citizens the right to defend themselves from a tyrannical government. Its not about the right to hunt or to target shoot or even to defend yourself from...

    Iraq is whispering something

From Rearden Metal - Formerly "Molon Labe". Nobody seemed to understand the meaning & symbolism of my former handle. I think I'll have slightly better chances with this one. I understand - "come and get it!" From my dead cold hands, baby! Probably better used in a firearms forum...

What it takes to be a specialist

There is nothing wrong with hating the specialist - even if your reason is capricious. :D Its a closed system that needs to be opened up to competition so that it starts reflecting true market based price discovery.

    Iraq is whispering something

Actually, I think there was more uncertainty in the first war (the market doesn't like uncertainty). Back then the US didn't have as much confidence in its military as a result of Vietnam. People were predicting 100,000 US causalities. There were anti-war demonstrations everwhere in the US...

That might be a good use for all that space the exchanges have when they close down the pits.

    Iraq is whispering something

The stock market shot up as soon as the last Gulf War started. Since everybody knows this and the market doesn't usually repeat itself exactly - perhaps this time the market will rally in anticipation of the start of the war and have a moderate sell off on the actual news.

Poll: Did Jesse Jackson help cause today's selloff?

Are you saying that the lack of ethics shown by many business leaders and many on Wall Street did not affect the market a while back? Is it not possible that by having the NYSE honor someone of very questionable financial ethics and morals (adultery) that it was a signal to some people that...

Poll: Did Jesse Jackson help cause today's selloff?

Ignoring the racial angle..... ......I don't think that having an ethically challenged person like Jesse Jackson ring the bell gives confidence to people who have stayed away from the market because of the ethical problems of corporate America and the NYSE in the 1990's. What kind of...
