    SpecialistMan - by John Bogle

If you want to go after someone big like the specialistman. The first thing you have to do is to take out his security. Dick Grasso was the security for the specialistman ........ done! Then you home in on the target ----->

    SpecialistMan - by John Bogle

Here is an excerpt from a commentary in today's Wall Street Journal by John Bogle, founder of the Vanguard Group. Good insight on the specialist system - i.e. the pre-tax profit margins of 35% to 60% for low-risk trading. For a hedge fund to generate that kind of return they have to risk the...

How high can the S&P go?

Romeo wrote on 9/12 & 9/13: O.K., I'm going to take a flyer.....go out on a ledge.... and say that your prediction will be wrong as a three dollar bill - the S&P500 will exceed 1032. :D

Eurex, Chicago Exchanges get ready to rumble

As far as the electronic products go you might say that Eurex is the incumbent and CBOT will be the interloper. Eurex advantages: - incumbent system & clearing firm - source of electronic liquidity (the system is the liquidity?) - lower costs - proven technology CBOT...

    Grasso Resigns As Nyse Chairman

Here is the unctuous Saudi spokesman who IMHO looks like the unctuous Dick Grasso. Adel Al-Jubeir: http://www.cnn.com/2002/US/08/27/adel.al.jubeir.cnna/ Dick Grasso: http://www.mullings.com/cc7-26.jpg

where did the large orders go?

My guess would be that everyone is working it harder - trying to squeeze that last bit of profit or reduce slippage (costs). I think its true with the entire economy. Thats why productivity is increasing but job growth is not.

    Grasso Resigns As Nyse Chairman

The NYSE specialists will be hard pressed to find someone as unctuous as Dick Grasso. The closest I have seen is the bald Saudi Arabian diplomat that's always on TV (in fact, they even look alike).

    Why traders get no respect

Its happy, not sad. It is boiling things down to what is essential. Instead of running around trying to impress others and get their respect - you simply live the life you want to live and be as decent a person as you can. Don't waste your energy on trivial matters. Life is too short. .

    Why traders get no respect

The only respect worth striving for is self-respect. Once you have it - everything else falls into place.

looking to move and trade from spain

How the heck would a foreign country know that you are trading for a living, let alone making a reportable profit? For all they know you are a trust fund tourist on an extended stay. I am looking at this as an American, I don't know what the EU rules are.

    Waxie is back again!

Waxie seems to be a hit among the Germans I don't speak German, but I think they are talking about using waxie's bald head as a battering ram to invade France. http://www.futures-trader.de/cgi-bin/webbbs50/archiv2.pl/noframes/read/11262

    are divergences really worth anything?

Ouch! I better have another drink. I won't try to dissuade you as I don't need the competition. All I will say is that IMHO a proper divergence play is a counter-trend move that occurs about 25% of the time after a swing is completed. It should not be the main play in a short timeframe...

looking to move and trade from spain

Spain is taking over from France as the world's leading culinary nation. At least you will eat well there. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/3083768.stm

    are divergences really worth anything?

Saying divergences don't work is like saying retracements don't work. You have to find the right circumstances for each to work.

Is NYSE Price Improvement fair ?

Its sort of like the saying at Chilkoot Charlie's bar in Anchorage, Alaska: "We cheat the other guy and pass the savings on to you". http://www.dougb.com/akalbum/results.cgi?photo=33

How do you find a head hunter?

Headhunters usually specialize by industry or function - software sales, IT etc. Find someone who has the type of job that you want and has been in it for a while. Ask him or her to give you a list of the better headhunters. Headhunters are like bankers - when you don't need them, you...
