    hardest futures contract to trade?

If you don't like the "bots", go to a higher timeframe. ES on a daily basis, or even a 60 minute basis filters out a lot of the noise. Whether the noise is induced by "bots" or not is another matter.

    IB Secure Device

This decision is absolutely brilliant. While IB could have done something to allow for automated logins (generate a public/private key, have an x509 cert signed, etc), the complexity for the average customer would have been phenomenal. Forget about your firewall, anti-virus software, etc...

i am dying to get in the pits

I know many traders who went from floor to screen back in the 80s when a modem was the size of a microwave oven, and a TRS-80 was the highest tech way of getting quotes. There are many ways to have an "edge" in the pit, and these don't necessarily go away when you go electronic.

    Simple question by options novice

My point was this: You can get a delta of .99 buying a SLAB Apr 25 call for $580. To get the same delta, you'd have to buy a Oct 17.5 call for $1390. For 2.5x the cash outlay, you get the same delta. It might be worthwhile buying a nearer month and rolling. Youd' have less capital tied...

    Simple question by options novice

I said nothing of the sort. I even cited a web site that thinks his method is crap. Dykstra has rambled at length about why he is buying deep ITM calls rather than stock. Whether you agree with his picks or not, his reasoning for trading options versus buying stock is parallel to yours...

    When premium income is collected

I'm guessing you're just jerking us around. I've now explained this 5 times. MTE has tried once. If you still do not understand, trading is not for you!!! One last time. In the Yen: The tick value is $12.50 The tick size is .000001 It says so right here...

    Question

Wow. I'm not sure any interface could possibly make me pay 13 times more than IB. And believe me, I've seen Man's, so I've seen as bad as it can get. :-)

    Simple question by options novice

Are you sure? SLAB 22.5 calls with an IV of 27.5%. Apr: 1.0 May: .9996 Oct: .9695 If the OP is interested in very ITM option buys, Lenny Dykstra (the ex-baseball player) writes a column for TheStreet.com about his portfolio doing exactly this. This guy...

    Simple question by options novice

It is almost never better to buy calls in a long term situation. If their expiration is too far in the future, your delta (i.e. the amount of money you make for each dollar move in the underlying) will be very small. If the expiration is too short, you'll get killed in theta (the amount of money...

    When premium income is collected

Yen calendar spreads can be quoted in halves. If you remove decimal points entirely, you have 85005 as half way between 8500 and 8510. Doesn't make much sense. Some data vendors quote corn in cents per bushel (400 1/2). Others quote it in dollars per bushel 4.00 1/2. Others decimalize it...

    When premium income is collected

$12.50 is the $ value per tick. .000001 is the tick size. So, a contract move of .000001 = $12.50 $12.50 / .000001 = $12,500,000 $12,500,000 * .00015 (your example option premium) is? ... On ES, $12.50 is the $ value per tick .25 is the tick size So, a contract move of .25 =...

    Buying an IDEM seat.

sparky-did you buy one? I'd be concerned how the IDEM and GEM seats will be merged in the future, but if you get a seat with stock, it's not a bad deal at all.

    When premium income is collected

What is the multiplier for the yen contract? If you buy a yen contract for .008543 and it goes up to .008544, how much did you make? If you can answer that question, you can answer how much the premium is for your option. If you can't, you REALLY shouldn't be trading the yen. Hint-- The...

    Best broker for futures options

I've used Lind and Man. Stay verrrry far away. The fills were pretty good in some markets, but their back office is insane. I closed my account 6 months ago and I still get calls (at 4:40 in the morning) notifying me my orders have been filled. I got a statement confirming a spread trade...

    WASDE-reading experience needed

So, I've been updating my fundamental spreadsheets in preparation for the planting report on Friday and noticed something pretty bizarre. Beans: Last year, 72M acres were planted. This year, WASDE is estimating 75.5M, or a 5% increase in acres. Corn: Last year, 82M acres were planted. This...

    NKE Puts

Ouch. This is setting yourself up for some serious pain. Unless you have a pretty thorough understanding of the convex nature of options, you're going to end up in odd situations where you pick the right direction, but lose money anyway. If you're really looking to swing trade on a small...

    When premium income is collected

“Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime” I've given you all the information you need to compute the option premiums on those. The results are quite simple given the illustrations from my previous post. "zeros and...

Trading 10 year or 30 year?

Given CBOT's pro-rata price matching algorithm on the 5 year, you may NEVER get filled on the bid or offer with anything less than a few thousand contracts.

    Eurodollar Spreads/ Eurodollar

fandyur, I'm spending some time with this, but I'm not sure how you're creating the "netlg" column. I've updated the spreadsheet for 3/20 except for that. You may be interpreting the divergences too literally. Perhaps it's a strong signal of a trend change, and you should look for...

Trading 10 year or 30 year?

The bid/ask you're competing against is generally very large. The moves occur on the floor, in my experience. As a result, it seems unlikely you'd get regular fills on the bid or ask. Even now (after hours) on bonds there are between 500 and 1800 contracts on the inside bid and ask. Only 3406...
