Looks like the world is coming to end.

900 maybe, but 700 is just a little too extreme!!! Won't happen I think.

Bush: Banking system is ‘basically sound’

The way to calculate unemployment in US has been changed in Volcker's era. In reality, it is much higher than 5.5%.

Is there anything to stop a capitulation Tuesday?

How about Paulson giving a speech saying "we believe in strong dollar?" again for the umpteenth time :D

    vix spike = temp bottom

My opinion: Quant funds run by the big boys. Notice the pattern similarity, the technicality, time frame. All almost perfect. This is intentional, imho.

    vix spike = temp bottom

    Agree. Very premature bottom call.

Absolutely no bailout from gov't I think! But there's an article saying that they're insuring $264 million for Air Force Project. So they're still in business, I suppose. http://www.forbes.com/feeds/ap/2008/07/11/ap5206855.html

Charles Schumer personally owes the FDIC $4-$8 billion

This is quite interesting. Major holders as of March 31, 2008 are some of the big boys: GS, MER, BCS, MS. I'm pretty sure they've unloaded IMB before it collapsed, no? http://finance.yahoo.com/q/mh?s=IMB

    ABX Indices stuck @ lows

I've been paying attention to that and today after FRE and FNM news came out, it was just a straight 90 degrees drop. Geeezz..... That is nasty.

What a specialist knows about YOU

I agree here. Trading is very hard - not just buy/sell/sellshort. You need to know the technical (and fundamental - although some people ignore it). Knowing when to buy/sell, dealing with my emotion was the hardest thing to conquer. Admitting mistakes and letting go of my ego is VERY hard...

What is going on in Asia?

US$ index +0.40% now 72.95 (that's quite a rebound!), oil down -1%, gold down -1%. Major indexes EWJ, EWT, FXI are oversold.

    Barron's cover story - a contrarian sign???

Honestly everybody's calling the top in oil including me but now I just won't fight it, although technically USO is showing some bearish divergence. I've been 80% cash since last week. I have a few stocks for long term that I'm gonna keep. Pulled my SDS a last week ... maybe too early, I...

Yaaawn buy GLD on the dip

You're a bit cocky but I have to admit you've been more right wrong all these times than your bashers :) Except 1 thing - McCain ain't gonna be the next president. There should be a revolt if that ever happens.

Why do these idiots not give a rats arse about price of oil

Lol... I never thought anybody would mention a Vespa in 2008 :D My dad used it to go to work in the 60's!

    Oil on track

I'm gonna make a bet if they increase the margin requirement for oil like they did to wheat, it's gonna go down to $80-ish. But Bush doesn't want that and we already know why.

    UBS Q1 U.S.-mortgage-market losses $19B

I think it's already priced in as of April 1 when they estimate 12Billion lost.
